Matheus only had a broken nose and probably collapsed because of the pain or something of that nature. Good news!

I had Sevilla as favorite in this tournament, and they didnt dissapoint. Congrats to Sevilla-fans. So, what now, 5 teams in CL or do Valencia lose out?

Dont understand how that works, all Cl-groups have the same amount of teams, did they introduce an extra group in the cl or something?

I imagine that some country lost a qualifying spot or playoff team numbers were reduced.

One place was reserved for the EL champions.

Valencia have to qualify though, and if they do, 5 La Liga clubs in the CL!

BTW: In the last 10 years in the EL: Spain 6 - Europe 4.

So much "win" for the Sunny SPL!!!

La liga could become the first league to pass the 100 point mark at the uefa ranking. 25% more than the second ranked league. An average of 20 points (duh) per season, which is more than any other league has earned in any of the last 5 seasons.
Spanish teams could lose every single game next season and still be ranked first by the next. That kind of dominance probably won't repeat itself, truly impressive stuff and congrats to sevilla for retaining the Europa league, has it ever been done in the past 20 years ?
edit: sevilla won back to back in 07 too

Italy was slightly more dominant in the 90s.

you're probably right then, do you have a source to back it up ?

In relative terms, Italy was even more dominant in the 90s, yes.

This was the apex of Italian dominance in the mid-90s:

http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method1/crank1995.html

In relative terms, it is even more impressive than what La Liga has achieved recently. 63.8 to 45.2 is a better ratio than 100 to 80.

But, it has to be noted, that the Italian league of the 90s was the richest in the world. La Liga does not enjoy such an advantage today. Far from it in fact. So, pound for pound, La Liga is more awesome if we are being honest.

Back in the day, Italian clubs won the UEFA Cup 8 times out of 11 seasons. 4 finals were all-Italian affairs (during the same period) They also won the CL four times (in 11 years) and had a finalist in 9 out of 10 years. Absolutely astonishing!

Just a few more impressive facts from that period. Inter won the old UEFA Cup (remember, all the best teams in Europe were in it, except the national champions) in 1994 and at the same time finished 13th in Serie A (out of 18 clubs) just one point above relegation. AC Milan won the league in 1996, then finished 11th in 1997!!!!!! United fans like to brag that they beat Inter and Juve on route to the CL title in 1999. That season Inter finished 8th in Serie A, and Juventus finished 7th!
