Quique Setien

The 442 with all amigos just reeks of Setien trying to avoid a hammering while keeping old core happy.

Well, he got in conflict with them and he got owned. To the point of the veterans refusing to listen to instructions. This is the team of the veterans, no two ways about it.

What were the amigos complaining again? Why they hate Setien? Because they can't run anymore or want to?

They wanted to decide things in the team far beyond their role as a players, which they did under EV. Setien and his staff probably were too commanding for their liking. They needed to correct that. And they did. Setien got the message and turned into Pavlov's dog.

I guess we can never make these players our coaches in the future.

It's also why we play with 9 players instead of 11.

Nah, also doesnt justify how he made cowardly subs, cant recall him making subs that changed the game and him professing his love for Busquets since Day 1 like how EV is with Rakitic.

Funniest thing (in a depressing way) is that when Setien came, he claimed that other managers weren't getting the best out of Busquets as they were not playing him to his strengths.

Busquets then went on to play great for a few weeks, until he fell back into conformity and his stale old performances.

The players have clearly got accustomed to low level training output and think they can win on skill alone. Mind you, LE had the same issues 5 years ago, almost lost his job as the team (Messi) did not agree with his tactical choices.

News today:
(HagridFCB)
Barcelona coach Quique Setien will lead the team in Friday's Champions League quarterfinal against Bayern Munich but the club have already begun sounding out possible replacements, sources confirm.
...
The overriding feeling at Barca is that Setien has failed to win the dressing room around because of his relatively limited achievements. They want their next appointment to be a name that gains immediate respect among the players.
...
Koeman has been sounded out because of his history with the club and he remains a candidate. Sources remember how he did a good job of clearing out an ageing squad at Valencia in 2007, but there are concerns about his pragmatic playing style.
...
Former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino is another target. However, his past with Barca's rivals Espanyol and previous comments about accepting the Barca job could complicate any appointment
...
Xavi Hernandez is the obvious target but an immediate return is unlikely after he rejected the chance to in January
...
Sources explain that the profile of coach wanted is clear, but there is no outstanding option for the job
@samuelmarsden @moillorens

Guillem Ballague also confirmed in his recent video that most likely Setien will get the sack even if Barca gets past Bayern, without giving out any successor names.

It's funny we hear the same names again, after January, and none seems more likely to join.

Personally, I hope Ten Hag or Xavi will take over in 2021 along with a new board. This will hopefully lead to a clearing out of the squad (Suarez, Raki, Vidal, Busi, Alba, Pique etc.) and a new more visionary sporting project.

However if Setien gets the sack now, I've always thought it would be interestin to see how Michael Laudrup would do. Big name, played under Cruyff and has a great football mind. Also had some very good spells as a coach with Swansea, Getafe and Mallorca. More of a visionary guy, and less pragmatic than Koeman. Would even fit BBZ's theory that midfielders do better as coaches than CB's or GKs. He has a bit of reputation for clashing with the board at times at the club, as he doesn't want to make too many compromises, and usually does best the first 1-2 years. I don't see this a bad thing atm tbh as our last two coaches have been complete pushovers.

Clashing with the board.
Not too many compromises
Visionary guy.

Why would we chose someone like that?
We need a puppet and a scapegoat.
