FC Barcelona basketball team

Ante Tomic also left. I wonder if all of these latest actions the club took with regard to the basketball section were a result of a genuine desire to restructure the basketball team or rather because we don't have the money to sustain it any more (we have been losing money on the basketball team almost every season)?

We've done a pretty good job last year and brought some great players. I think we have a good team and won't need to change a lot this summer but obviously Saras will try to bring some players who fit his system better.

BTW, Tomić might go to Zenit St. Petersburg. They are coached by Xavi Pascual.

Pierre Oriola has renewed untill 2024. He has accepted lower wages than agreed in his previous contract for the 2020/21 season.

The club also wants to extend Kyle Kuric's contract till 2023.

Pau Ribas has left the club and joined Joventut. Kevin Pangos will also leave.

Kuric (2023) and Davies (2022) have both signed new contracts.

Also, there are rumours we're negotiating Pau Gasol's return to Palau Blaugrana.

Apparently we are close to sign him on a one year deal.
Good to see him back, although I doubt he will be difference maker

Well, according to EFE (via MD) club sources have denied we're negotiating with Gasol.

We will confirm the signing of Nick Calathes (ex Panathinaikos) in coming days. We also want Jan Vesely but he's under contract with Fenerbahce and has a high asking price.

We just beat Real Madrid in an Euroleague game, 79:72, with a very strong 2nd quarter which saw us building up a 21 point lead which was eaten away by a subpar second half.

They're doing well, 8 consecutive wins in the league and Euroleague, among those two 30+ points wins against Fenerbahce and Alba.

Also, Leandro Bolmaro was drafted in the NBA draft but will stay in Europe for now.

Leandro Bolmaro has confirmed that he will stay at Bar?a this season. The Argentine, who was the 23rd pick in the NBA Draft, was selected by the New York Knicks and promptly traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

2 losses in a row for us, first to the last place in the Euroleague Lyon and then to Valencia in the ACB.

Thomas Heurtel has not received permission to get on the plane that brings Bar?a back from Istanbul, where this afternoon they lost in a Euroleague match against Anadolu Efes (86-79). The decision to leave the French base in Turkey responds to the club's anger at the Frenchman's lies in the negotiations to terminate his contract with Bar?a.

Heurtel and his agency, Beobasket, had led Bar?a to believe that the player was going to sign for Turkish Fenerbah?e once an agreement was reached for the termination of his contract. The player had even asked to travel to Istanbul - despite not entering into the coach's plans - in order to close the operation with his theoretical new team. But just when an economic agreement already existed and only the signature was missing, Bar?a learned that Fenerbah?e had no interest in Heurtel, who has been secretly negotiating to sign for Real Madrid. The trip to Istanbul was nothing more than a diversionary maneuver by the French.

Jasikevicius's anger with Heurtel is enormous, to the point that both his departure from the club and the arrival in his place of his compatriot Leo Westermann, a player from his same agency who has just been cut by Fenerbah?e, have been left up in the air. Westermann already had an agreement with Bar?a but the club wants to reverse it in the face of the new situation.

Wow, I've liked Heurtel, sad that things went so far but his agency actually wanted Barca to pay part of his wages so he could play for RM. Yeah, no way the club was furious when they've found that out. They should've still reacted differently though. Bring him back to BCN and let him root in the stands until his contract expires but leaving him at the airport in a foreign country (especially in these times) is just wrong imo.
