The mood of this forum has changed very little over the last 3-4 years TBH, so it feels no different posting something that may be foreshadowing a future meltdown.

I can make a bold prediction that this generation who are now ~25 will be better off when Messi leaves the team.

But point remains - Argies have a toxic mentality, primarily throughout the nation, but that translates into the FA and into the locker room. It's like the Spain mentality prior to Casillas-Xavi relationship mending and with wholly different attitude towards the supporters.

Videos like about this stupid debate like the one below demonstrate this stuff best. Argentina will be better off with 2 or 3 fairly talented players, than one GOAT-level star expected to carry everything.

1. Messi as RW in 433 is a defensive suicide.
2. Mascherano as a DM in 433 is a big no.
3. Caballero is just a no.

The best option for this Argentina would be playing 4-4-2 diamond.

Mercado and tagliafico haven't been impressive so far. Armani, he hasn't been tested yet, but yeah definitely an improvement over Cabalero after this fiasco. Messi needs to drop deep, that's how he plays. In this one he is too forward.

But, yours isn't bad either.

Messi up front in a 4-2-3-1 as the main scorer and dummy target.
Having Messi as a creator is not working for Argentina.
Messi needs to say: "i'm going to go up front and get this shit done and attract all the attention to make it easy for Dybala and the others

That's how we have been playing with Barca during our mid-December - February run. We were leathal.

This team is messed up...Sampaoli doesn't have a clue about what is doing.

Messi had the chances to win something in the past years...too bad he didn't. They had a golden generation and they messed up always. This tournament is worse than I thought for them.

Nigeria won't beat Iceland.

Iceland ties - Croatia are safe 1st and takes it easier against Iceland who then wins = Argentina are out.

Iceland wins - Croatia would needs to win against Iceland for Argentina to qualify. Possible, as Croatia won't be able to take it easy as 1st spot won't be secured. Argentina then need to defeat Nigeria by 3 goals probably.
