Dejan Lovren

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
You probably have never talked to a Liverpool fan

Considering he's English and has posted on this forum for years primarily about English football I would say he's talked to a fair share of Liverpool fans.

Lovren recently has been glorified by Liverpool fans in a mocking fashion, because for 90% of his time there he's been trash. Even when he's playing well nowadays he always has a huge brainfart in him that almost ends up costing his team a goal.

Anyone that genuinely believes Lovren is World Class or close to World Class need to get their heads checked.

If we are considering Lovren, why don't we just put a traffic cone on the pitch as RCB? It's cheaper.

Wrong.
Go and actually do some research how Lovren is performing and how Liverpool fans see him before saying things like this. He is almost as loved as how Madrid fans would never let Ramos go.

Nope. He's 100% correct.

Give Liverpool any chance to cash in anything in the range of 25-40M for him and they'd jump at the opportunity.

They actually wouldn't, like go actually to their reddit page or his insta and you will see that they are obsessed with him, Liverpools defence has been insane, clean sheet almost every match, and Lovren is a big reason for that. The Spurs game is the only reason nobody calls him World-Class, but he has been that since then.

Depends which Liverpool fan you refer to doesn't it? An average guy who knows no better about football and thinks VVD is the best in the world, and whose memory doesn't go as far back as before 2018. They might tell you Lovren is world-class. No surprise there. In the same way you would see thousands flocking to support Griezmann after these statements from him or his camp that he is on the same planefield as Messi and Ronaldo. Same mindless crowd.

The Spurs game is not the "only" reason. His track record since coming to Liverpool is. He came as the revered Southampton transfer along with Lallana to replace Daniel Agger and flopped so hard they had to go back to the market multiple times to cover up the hole to have any hopes of keeping Coutinho long term. They didn't.

Almost every match? What?
4 clean sheets out of 8 in December 2017
1 out of 6 in January 2018
2 out of 4 in February
3 out of 5 in March
4 out of 7 in April
1 out of 4 in May
2 out of 4 in August
2 out of 6 in September

19 clean sheets in 44 matches. Not even every other match.

Basically they had a good spring and with VVD introduction you could even bother starting to count them. He stopped them being top heavy and it's a good record. Not "insane" at all.

Its still a great clean sheet record, probably even better than ours, and they play with 19 year old RB, so its not like he is just put in a place where everything is done for him. Of course VVD is the better defender, he is probably the best in the league but Lovren was class consistently for so long now since that Spurs game. And I know the fans 100% love him, not just because he gives greats results but also he has a personality. They have a very stable team right now and it would make no senese to sell him for 25-40m, especially in the winter.

Lovren is one of the most mocked defenders, he didnt suddendly turn into world class. Its just shows how hype is easily build around players today, just have a 1 good season and every bad is forgoten.

But bartro could go for lovren

You don't "know" anything based off an instagram feed... Should have lived with a Liverpool fan prior to VVD transfer like I did. Matip was their only hope of getting a CL spot.

Lovren is basically the same as what Pique is without a vocal senior next to him, which is what makes the rumor so funny given he wouldn't come here to be 4th and probably wouldn't be happy to be a rotation CB either, nor would it make any sense. So either he'd be replacing Pique or relegating Lenglet to 4th CB. Nonsense move either way. 25-40 million for a CB? Liverpool would just let Gomez have the spot and buy someone like Harry Maguire. Sorted.

I never visit his instagram but I know if I did it would be fans drooling over him, and I've seen on reddit and their discord that they love him and I have never heard a bad word about him. And the reason Pique would be ahead of him is the manager, not because Pique is better player. Also he is vocal, I don't know why you say that he isn't. And if you think they would just say ok to Gomez when they are aggressively trying to win the league and CL right now then you are crazy.

Can you read bro?

Not even remotely close to what you've interpreted. Lovren talks as much shit as anybody else. As does Pique, to an extent guys like Bonucci or David Luiz. They all need somebody stern with quality and vocal next to them or they get exposed as completely out of their depth on their own.

Obviously they wouldn't get any confirmations right away, but if they had a replacement lined up then it's not impossible at all. Maguire is one option and has expressed a desire to move up from Leicester. You could probably find others across the Premiership, Bundesliga or France relatively easily. Depends on the price and what Lovren would actually want to do. If his priority is trying to win the league then he'd obviously stay, but if he gets a decent shiny 3-4 year deal in Barcelona depending how desperate they are to try and ensure safety of their campaign by bringing in another defender, then it'd be his only shot ever, so he'd at least consider it. Hypothetically.

Yes it is impossible, its like us selling Alba right now in the winter, just becaues he said he likes City more. Anything can happen in the summer but there is not a chance they would disrupt this chemistry that team has right now, he has too big of a part in it, if we went after him it would be 50-60m minimum, anything else would be stupid from Liverpool, and they probably still salty about Coutinho.

... and if City gave you the right amount of money, you'd let him go no doubt if you had the replacement lined up.

Picking a really poor time to pick this line of argument given the amount of key players that switched teams last winter. Were Giroud and Sanchez not key to Arsenal's top4 battle? 2 of their topscorers. Would Borussia ever let their topscorer go if they didn't have a strategy to follow and remain in top4 for the rest of the year, while preparing deals for the next season? All depends on the deal. And on what Lovren would say. If he's not vain he'd stay, but much like Lopetegui was lured with a once-in-a-lifetime offer, same thing can happen to others, especially people like him who are dying to make a living as a defender who's on a wage 4x lower than other top stars.

And whats the right amount of money for Alba? Anything less than 100m wouldn't make sense, and even then we would need something like Gaya lined up, which would cost at least another 60m lol.
I see the problem here, you think Liverpool are some mid table club that we can snatch players from, that might have been the case a year ago but they are legit contenders for CL, I see them as top 5 at least club in the world right now, they would just tell us to fuck off if we came with 40m. Do you also think we could just buy Verratti right now in the winter if we came with the right money?

Um... Lovren has only played two games this season. Liverpool's first choice centre-back pairing is now VVD and Gomez.
