He leaves for RM/Utd/City/Chelsea/Bayern = traitor, the epitome of what's wrong in football, can't win on his own so he joins a stacked team
Signs a new contract with no release clause = what a loser, no ambition at all, content with mediocrity

Double standards. Double standards. Good on him for being loyal. I think that he and Captain Hummels will stay, even if Dortmund get relegated, for at least another season.

I think this shows his faith in the long term project at Dortmund. I remember some people gave him shit for leaving Mongelgladbach to join the then-champions. This ought to silence the accusations that he's just a mercenary. Hope he finally wins the league when Pep leaves.

Securing him until 2019 means BVB will get him for most of his prime, unless something goes horribly wrong. Huge day in the club's history, but also makes you wonder what took them so long to finally do this

Doesn't have one.

No, not angry, but disappointed. Even if he had chosen another international club over going to Bayern, that would still have been much smarter and ambitious than staying at a club which is essentially done for the next couple of years (again). Even Auba wants to go back to France instead of staying at Dortmund :D
He's wasting his very promising career by staying in Dortmund. Reus will never achieve greatness.

@C0n0rMacG Official word from @BVB is that Dortmund players no longer have release clauses.

Does this mean no more relegation release clauses as well?

Dortmund are clearly in decline. They will drag him down too. Staying in Dortmund and accepting the prospect of not playing CL for possibly many years to come, will almost certainly hinder his further development. Also it would have been good to challenge himself with a new working environment, meaning, new choaches, new team-mates etc.

It could always be a gentleman's agreement type thing. He agrees to renew with no release clause, and will do his best to help the club stay in the Bundesliga or get back if they go down. And if a sizable offer comes in, Dortmund will let him go. That way his club will also get the money that Reus is worth in today's market, at least ~70M euros.
