Well, Bravo was better when he they both were at Barca, but now Stegie is better than Bravo ever was for us. A world top 3 GK, if not even the best.

Would be sad and unfair if Nuer takes the 1st spot in the Germany national team this World Cup ... I mean what message does that send?

Not really. Ter Stegen was about as good at Bravo at worst. There's a reason he started CL games.

People act like he was some scrub until this season.

I compared the top 'young' goalkeepers and how many games they've played at senior level, both for club and country.
Marc has been playing a decent amount, but he's also missed a lot of potential game time because of Bravo & Neuer.

415 - De Gea (1990)
395 - Courtois (1992)
275 - ter Stegen (1992)
259 - Oblak (1993)
188 - Alisson (1992)
186 - Ederson (1993)

He's improved a lot lately. I think the biggest factor is the increased responsibility he's taken at both Barça and Germany.
Being the first keeper at the WC would help him progress even further.

Perfect goalkeeper for us nonetheless.

Remember the time when people said Bravo is better

Pepperidge farm remembers.

Bravo was indeed better when he was at Barca. He was consistent and our La Liga run with him proves that. We're lucky we had 2 great GKs at that time. We're still lucky to have Cillessen as our backup who's happy to stay even though he only plays Copa.

Record in last 50 years is 16 goals conceded and it's held by Victor Valdes.
Doubt he will beat that but who knows.

Yes, club record is held by Valdes. Overall La Liga record is:

1 - 0.474 goals per game (18 goals in 38 matches), Francisco Liaño (for Deportivo, 1993–94), Jan Oblak (for Atlético Madrid, 2015–16)
3 - 0.5 goals per game (16 goals in 32 matches), Víctor Valdés (for Barcelona, 2010–11)
4 - 0.51 goals per game (19 goals in 37 matches), Claudio Bravo (for Barcelona, 2014–15)

With the level they were both playing, there was no lesser GK than the other as they were both great. He was supposed to be number 1 GK right away but got injured and Bravo was just so good while Mats was out and so consistent in La Liga that it would be unfair to bench him. In the end, we should just be happy that both helped us win the treble.

The competition of both GKs also helped Ter Stegen become the player he is today.
