    Default Liverpool

Benitez just got a new contract. Up until 2014.

So. Are they a cup team or they can challenge this season? I like Liverpool as a club and do respect Benitez but the guy is just too one dimensional. And whats with all the mediocre signings and that Robbie Keane transfer?
And I don`t think that 80% of foreigners is the way to go for a club of Liverpool`s tradition.

Its great news that he has signed a new contract, and its not just more than a mere coinceidence that he has done it after it was announced that Rick Parry would resign at the end of the season. He (Parry, our former Chairman) has been responsible for many of transfer screw ups.

With that being said, the Americans will bring in a yes man, so we will see how that works out for us in the end.

As far as challenging this season, I think we have done that and we only have ourselves to blame for not being in first place at the moment. We had the advantage over both United and Chelsea, but we shot ourselves in the foot with needless draws at home. Many will point out that Benitez is soley to blame due to his comments aimed at United and Ferguson, but we were dropping silly points at home before those comments were made.

Our recent form if you will is something that we needed to show a long time ago, and the key to these two significent victories was the collective desire in our players, which was lacking in many games against certain sides at Anfield.

Our signigns have not been that effective this season, but we have managed to sustain a challenge despite that. The Roy Keane affair was as I said a battle between Parry and Benitez, (Rafa wanted Gareth Barry and Keane both in the summer, but he only got Keane and therefore that screwed up what he had in mind for the squad for those two).

The whole foreigner issue is uneveitable, seeing as there is a lack of quality of English footballers. I am not English so it doesnt bother to be honest that much, but most of English Liverpool supporters dont give a fck either. As long as the player knows what it means to play for the club, thats it all that matters. (i.e. Sami Hyypia, Didi Hamann,etc..)

In general in our club history when we were at our best we mostly had Scottish and Irish players anyway.

Hope that Parry departure opens new possibilities for your team.
What Liverpool has and many teams lack is that team drive. I have a feeling that all they lack is one creative midfielder to make things more effecient. Too any times I see Kuyt trying to cook something from that winger position he`s been played at.

When i think Bentiz, i think 4-4-2 with 2 DMs. I'd give anything to see him possibly play a 4-3-3.

First team coach of Liverpool, Mauricio Pellegrino, used to play for Barca. Tbh. I forgot all about him until I saw his name. Whata flop he was...

LOL I am proud of the lads tonight a great effort and really it was lost after the 1st leg. But we really went for it tonight and so close but so far...

no one could have predicted that scoreline though.

Once the memory of getting 1250 $ vanishes you will see the light lol

It was an amazing match, however one must qualify although both deserved to.

Liverpool have appointed Jose Segura as Academy technical manager, with the 48-year-old taking up his new position on June 1st.
He will report to Academy director Frank McParland and will bring huge experience to the role, having worked at FC Barcelona for both their youth system and Barca B team.

During his time with the Catalan giants, he helped develop players of the calibre of Andres Iniesta, Victor Valdes, Gerard Pique, Bojan Krkic, Cesc Fabregas and Mikel Arteta.

He later enjoyed great success in Greece. Firstly with AEK Athens and then as assistant coach at Olympiacos before succeeding Takis Lemonis as manager and leading them to a Greek league and cup double in 2008.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez commented: "There's a lot to do at the Academy, but we've worked hard to bring in the best people and Jose is a great appointment.

"He's worked with some of the top young talent in Spain and knows the challenges faced in bringing through players to the first team set-up. He's also got experience at the top after his success with Olympiacos and I'm delighted that he's agreed to join us."
    GAH!

first time I seen that - well that is great news and if we can get just ONE player of the ilk above it would be worth it.
