Thread: Irrelevant classicos.

  1. #1

    Default Irrelevant classicos.

I have started to see a number of posts about the classicos suddenly being irrelevant because Madrid won't drop points against weaker teams while Barca will.
This is really stupid. I see this from both our fans and Madrid fans, you simply cannot pretend like you will automatically win 36 games simply because the opponent isn't barca/madrid.
Barcelona have lost against Getafe,Sociedad,Hercules these past 2 seasons just to name a few while they were considered massive favorites.
The same happened to Madrid when they lost against Ossasuna and Levante.

I don't you to consider this a hate on Mourinho post but him saying winning la liga without defeating barcelona would be sweet is simply a bitter response to his situation.
Furthermore both sets of fans have to stop thinking that Barcelona are simply going to win every single classico from now on.

It seems that after every classico people look at the current situation and consider the future ceteris paribus(with all other things remaining the same).

Honestly this is FOOTBALL. It seems a lot of people here do have the footballing culture but forget just how unpredictable of a game this is.
This unpredictability is the reason small teams put up fights against big teams and don't simply give up.

And while I still hopefully have your attention can we PLEASE stop the hate?
I know it's very hard against Mourinho's teams on the account of he just brings with him this very hostile mentality wherever he goes but seriously let's just enjoy football.
We are lucky to be in a period where both Real Madrid and Barcelona are very strong and are competing on all 3 fronts, this is glorious for spain's relevance as a footballing powerhouse to have it's best two teams be considered the best in the world as well as a benefit for the National team (albeit I do agree that Mourinho seems to be advancing Portugal's NT with Madrid.)

Let's just watch FOOTBALL, it's much more interesting than all this negativity and speculation.

Well, it makes sense. He can't beat Barça, so better pretend it doesn't exist.

No Clasico is irrelvent .. but if you can gain maximum points from all the other teams and your rival drop points , than your 3 points or 6 points loss becomes of less importance or irrelvent to your title winning campgain in a league format

and i was thinking that games between real madrid and barcelona have been always something more than just 3 points. isn't that why they call it el clasico?

mourinho just ruining everything here. now clasico means nothing more than just 3 points to the table.

i can't wait to see your face if madrid would not happen to win the liga. but don't worry, CR would probably claim the penaldo and pichici award so you could still celebrate.

don't start with the 'if' again. who are you fooling. you know that. thinking that you have won the liga is the only thing on your mind on your latest posts. i can't blame you either, it's your only hope.

The more Clasicos the less glamour, that's for sure. IF we win the CL only and claim Clasicos it's a great season.
On the other hand, Madrid would have to win CL too as I doubt winning La Liga only after another season of Barca dominating them would be satisfying.
In short, CL will be key. Either Madrid takes their 10th or we go on and win it back to back.

if we dont win the CL who is to say you will?

Surely, its best to win it because we would make it a fact that you don't, or if we knock you out before we get knocked out.

You could end up beating us to both the CL and league. And all this talk would be irrelevant and Classicos would be incredibly important to mark your unquestionable domination yet again.

Until he wins one that is, or at least scrapes a draw.

It's funny that Madridistas' (at least those we have in here) only claim to glory is that they have managed to get a few more points in La Liga (irrespective of how that was done) and at the same time dismiss their Classico thrashings as "just another game" or "just 3 points"

I don't understand how he'll be taking 'a remarkable risk' or how he'll 'make them matter less'.

He is trying to win them but he is simply failing to do so. Therefore naturally, he has to count on the points his team accumulates from the remaining 36 fixtures to overcome Barcelona. There is no different strategy, there is no adjustment in the approach, if he had won the Clasico his approach towards the rest of the fixtures would've been exactly the same. The only difference is that now he has to count on us dropping more points that his team, which so far is happening
Alfredo Di Stéfano, Real Madrid's greatest ever player and the honorary president, spoke out. "Barcelona's football was simply brilliant," he said in his weekly column. "Their superiority was there for the whole planet to see: the whites were cornered all game. Barcelona play football and dance. They treat the ball with adoration and respect, almost nurturing it. To see this team in action is a delight."
