Pep respects Espanyol
FC Barcelona's coach Pep Guardiola couldn't compliment Barca's opposition enough before the game against Espanyol.
"They are a young team who not only fight and press, but they have much game."
He also praised Mauricio Pochettino stating that he respects his spirit and his idea of the game and said that games against them are special every year and it will be no different now.
"Espanyol are young, dynamic and historically they are a difficult team for us. They played in Sarria, Montjuic, now they are at Cornella, but they changed locations a lot, along with Osasuna field, which is always difficult when you look at the calendar.
2012 will be a challenge
Tomorrow's game will be a good test for the team in Guardiola's opinion.
"2011 is behind us and we have entered 2012. The reality is that we are below a team (Real Madrid) which we want to change and it's a test for us."
On winning Coach Of The Year award
Guardiola will lead Barca in his first game as IFFHS Coach Of The Year 2011, but he says he feels exactly the same as he felt two days ago when he wasn't yet awarded anything.
"These awards are gained by wins and not because you think you're better than your colleagues. I didn't earn it by myself, players did the work. We will continue to work in the same manner until the end of season."
Villa and Keita replacements
Asked if the club is thinking of replacing David Villa he responded negatively.
"I won't go to the market, we are who we are and we will follow up with the same roster till the end of season."
Pep was also questioned about covering up Keita's spot who will leave for African Nations Cup to play for Mali.
"Javier Mascherano can be moved back to play as a defensive midfielder if necessary."
