Default Six Barcelona players in L’Equipe’s 2011 Team of the Year Read more: http://www.tota

French football magazine L’Equipe named its annual best eleven and selected no less than six FC Barcelona players for the starting line-up. Right-back Dani Alves (28), center-back Gerard Piqué (24), midfielders Sergio Busquets (23), Xavi Hernández (31), and Andrés Iniesta (27), as well as forward Lionel Messi (24), were all featured in the Team of the Year.

One of the few "Team Of The Year" selections which acknowledges Busquets. Quality paper. Can't argue with that selection.
(...) and Carrick was faced with Xavi and Iniesta coming past him, and Messi in behind him. That’s 3rd, 2nd and 1st in last year’s World Footballer of the Year award forming a triangle around him – he desperately needed help (...)

    - ZonalMarking

Barca hold a key advantage here again, however, where Busquets has carved out a niche in shadowing deep-lying attackers. He knows what they eat for breakfast.

Marcelo: Ha ! Ha! the best left-back ! This is a joke !I guess his name was added just to please Florontino. Most of the goals scored agaist RM where initiated from his corridor if it's not from his fault !
This generation has the privilege of witnessing "the alien foot" of Barcelona !!

Best midfield ever. And Biscuit is an important part of it. Really nice to see him being acknowledge. This is a great 11, I think I'd just change Marcelo for Abidal or Lahm.

Great selection, but Marcelo and Pique could be substituted.

Yes, he is. There are only two midfielders in the world who are clearly, beyond any reasonable doubt better than him today, and they're both in the team of the year as well.

I agree with 7 of the 11 picks.

Piqué shouldn't be here, he didn't have a great year to be fair. Thiago Silva would be a better choice.

Vidic hasn't played much in the last few months. Hummels for me.

Marcelo?! WTF? Lahm or King Eric.

Silva? I guess they just wanted to include a PL player, but objectively this selection makes no sense. Many forwards had a better year. I'd select either Mario Gomez with Messi and Ronaldo up front. If it has to be a winger, either Di Maria, Hulk or Marco Reus, probably the latter. Don't know why Silva is even considered for this position, he has barely played as a wing forward this past year.

Touré, Modric, Sneijder, Alonso, Meireles etc. not even to mention our own boys, Fabregas and Thiago.
    Busquets is overrated.

Busquets is underrated. if you watch over a Barcelona game and focus on him you will notice how underrated he is.

edit: im gonna wait for manuel to post a more literate and detailed version of what i just said.

I want to like Sergio but i simply can't.
    1. He can't do incredible passes.
    2. He does not do enough defensively.
    3. He is constantly whining tho he has been cutting back on that recently.
    4. He only dives a little less than Christina ronaldo.
    5. He's clearing is weak and just last classico he had two chances to clear the ball before Gayzema scored (i know VV made a terrible mistake.)
    6. I can't remember last time he had an outstanding game.
    7. He just isn't good enough all around he is very average in my opinion.
But ofc. this is just how i see him, convince me hes worth being in the Team of the year guys.
