This is another Catalan team, yes?

Will be able to watch the second half live, thank goodness for late Spanish kickoffs.

Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque has called up 8 Barça players for the friendlies against England and Costa Rica

Josep Guardiola will be able to call on them for this week’s Cup tie.

Valdés, Puyol, Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi, Cesc and Villa will join up with the rest of the Spain squad on Thursday for the two friendlies, which will allow Guardiola to play them in Wednesday's Spanish Cup game against Hospitalet and fulfil the Spanish Federation's rules to field at least 7 first team squad members for Cup ties.

Both Cesc and Iniesta return to the Spain squad after missing out with injury for the last call up, whilst Pedro's current ankle injury means he is omitted. Spain, who have already qualified for next summer's European Championships, will play England at Wembley on Saturday and Costa Rica in San Jose on the following Tuesday.

South American and Under 21 players miss Cup game

Although the Spanish players will be available for the Cup game, as well as Keita and Abidal, Guardiola will be without Messi and Mascherano (Argentina), Alves and Adriano (Brazil) and Alexis (Chile) who have all been called up.

The young players involved in the Under-21 European Championship qualifiers against Estonia and Switzerland - Thiago Alcántara, Martín Montoya, Marc Bartra, Marc Muniesa, Carles Planas and Isaac Cuenca -will also miss the Cup game.

I would think that Pinto, Fontas, Maxwell and Keita would start for sure. From Barca B, Dos Santos (but please not at right fullback), Roberto, Rafina and Deulofeu. The Spanish internationals and Abidal might play part but not all of the game.

This whole Copa del Rey is a travesty. Starting from it's name to the rules and format.

Messi will probably play in the second leg, as the clubs have a good relationship

I'd like to see Rafinha and Fontás play

13 first team players are available as I read .. that's enough to meet the CdR rules ..

Pinto - Fontas - Maxwell - Keita - Rafa Alcantara - JDS - Deolufeu and maybe Soriano will all feature in this game ..

The first 3 Copa games this year are incredibly inconvenient for Barca. I wonder if Pep has a agreement with the Spain and France national team coaches about which Barca regulars will play how much on Wednesday? The second game will come soon after the flight back from Japan, I wonder if Pep will make his South American stars fly back to Spain before they fly to their homes for the break? The third game, if Barca gets by Hospitalat, shortens the Christmas break, again Pep will have to decide whether all his players should report back in time for this game.

These three games will be a great opportunity for the Barca bench and the reinforcements from Barca B to make their contribution.

Grimaldo to become the youngest player in history to feature for the Barcelona first team?

    One can dream...
Alfredo Di Stéfano, Real Madrid's greatest ever player and the honorary president, spoke out. "Barcelona's football was simply brilliant," he said in his weekly column. "Their superiority was there for the whole planet to see: the whites were cornered all game. Barcelona play football and dance. They treat the ball with adoration and respect, almost nurturing it. To see this team in action is a delight."

First time Pep will have this side playing on artificial turf

Paolo Maldini - "In my opinion, Messi should win the Golden Ball each year. He's an unbelievable player."
