Who was a few centimeters away from signing for us in 1998 but Van Gaal prefered Sonny Anderson.....(from what I have read)

I could imagine that

To Anderson's defence he performed rather well, winning the league twice and Copa del Rey etc. in his two seasons for the club.

But what a epic attack it could have been. Rivaldo-Batistuta (Kluivert)

How can it be pointless to discuss/name players that could improve our squad in the near future?

I can guarantee you that if the board had the same attitude as you, then we would not have signed anyone after the 08-09 treble.

There is always place for improvement which also is the case for our current amazing team (long-time replacement for Abidal, new central defender)
