Default Africa Cup of Nations 2012

Egypt not being able to take part in it is the best thing that has happened to the comp.

aye. good riddance to Egypt. their dominance would be respectable if they bothered to show the same drive at World Cups. but the don't. so fuck 'em.

Mali in a good position to qualify after whupping Cape Verde 3-0! if Liberia can take something from Zimbabwe then Mali will really be sitting pretty as a draw in Liberia will then do!

Kenya are still alive but frankly I don't think they'll make it. they need a draw tomorrow between Angola and Uganda, then they need to beat Uganda by more goals than Angola beat Guinea-Bissau - and that's a bit of a stretch considering they needed a 90th minute winner to beat Guinea-Bissau. there are results that could put them in second place, but I don't think they'd rank high enough amongst runner-ups.

of course the major story is Libya. if they qualify, that could be some epic shit.

No Egypt means this is the most exciting Africa Cup in a while.

Here to hoping Sudan does something of note this time.

So far we're neck to neck with Ghana, if we win tomorrow's game we'll be tied with Ghana with 13 points at the top of the group. The last remaining game will be a tasty showdown vs Ghana themselves in Khartoum to decide the group winner. Even if we lose we'll still qualify as one of the two best runner ups, but overcoming a WC Quarter Finalist will give us a HUGE confidence boost ahead of the main thing...

Do you mean Sudanese players? Somalia is a whole different country...

We don't particularly have any key players, none playing professionally outside of Africa. Our most talented player and captain is Haitham Mustafa, who plays in midfield, but he is getting older and isn't exactly at his peak anymore. We have a pretty decent striker in Careka, but like I said we don't have a player that really catches the eye, its more of a 'team effort'...

To be honest we were quite embarrassing last time we qualified, which was our first time in a very long time. This time around we improved, not nearly enough IMO but we should at least put a decent performance given how we did in the group stages and in Ghana...

dislking that egypt got out. i wanted to see the new generation in action though i have a strong intuition that this generation will just end up being a transition between the two golden ones.

Don't know, this group of players were something special, Aboutreka will be especially hard to replace.

They seemed to compliment each other perfectly, will be difficult to replicate the chemistry and understanding they had...

I'll be watching, should be epic.

Mali are at a win-and-in stage. just haveta beat Liberia!

Kenya need to beat Uganda in Uganda (not easy) and then hope Angola fail to pick up a win on their trip to Guinea-Bissau. so it's not likely they'll make it.

Cameroon are out. can't fuckin' believe that shit!

Moussa Sow means Senegal may actually be a force again, though. goalscorers in African football are like golddust.

How was it possible for Egypt to win it 3 (or was it 4) times in a row and in the same period not being able to qualify for the World Cup? Shit competion or what?

Ivory Coast to finally win it this time. And thank God that we only have Keita who will participate.
