May permanent peace be brought to the Arab world. My heart goes out to the families of those who have lost loved one(s). I wish and hope those who are creating religious, racial, regional, and tribal divisions among/within the Arab nations would be defeated in their quest for the destruction of the Middle East.

"I give you my word that we will work hard. I don’t know whether we’ll win but we will always try hard. So fasten your seat-belts, you’re going to enjoy the ride”
Pep Guardiola
And We did enjoy the ride, Pep, Thank you for every thing.
I don't know how many people have noticed, but there is a very interesting fact about the current La Liga table.
Real, Barca and Valencia are well spaced out in the top 3 places, but from there on then, all hell breaks lose. There is just a 7 point gap between 4th place and 17th. And a 9 point gap between 4th and 18th.
It seems that relegation and European places (especially a singular CL spot) are not far apart.
By comparison, the homologous difference between 4th and 17th in the other major European Leagues is:
EPL - 22
Bundesliga - 23 (18-team league)
Serie A - 18
Ligue 1 - 17

Well I've said it all season that there's as big of a gulf between Valencia and the rest of the league as there is between Valencia and the old firm, and people have accused me of being a Valencia fan boy for some reason. Statistically they aren't a class apart the way the old firm is but the point gulf is growing and even goal difference has become markedly different. Valencia might not be contenders but they are a class apart from the rest of the competition.
Atletico is in an interesting position. Since Simeone has taken charge their defense has looked a lot better and they suddenly aren't far removed from Valencia in quality. They have got to be favourites for 4th, though they are unreliable enough that Athletic or even Espanyol might take it from them.
After that things get dicey. There's actually a lot of quality spread out around the league but none of these teams have depth on both attack and defense. Some of these teams (Athletic, Malaga, Sociedad) have better cores than others, but teams like Levante and Espanyol are scrappy as hell.
I think that it is at one and the same time both a sign of strength and of weakness. Difficult to tell which one applies the more, exactly. But Spanish clubs seem to be doing well in Europe (even threatening to unseat the mighty EPL from the number one spot)
Valencia (something that I did not expect) are indeed a notch above the other 17. But Atletico maybe (finally) getting some of their shit together. But I don't know who would count on that.
