I just watched yesterday's game between Benfica and Lyon. You should watch it, and here is the full game: http://www.replaymatches.com/2018/08/benfica-vs-olympique-lyonnais-full.html

He is an intelligent player and I believe that we should get him. I understand that Miranda is a very promising player, but we just never know. I doubt we can get him this summer if Benfica qualifies to the CL. They are playing against Fenerbahce on Aug 7, 2018.

I thought he had a very bad injury history, but I took a quick look and he only had two major ones. One from Feb 23, 2013 to Jan 13, 2014 during his time at Barca B, and the other from Oct 24, 2016 to Apr 3, 2017

I personally would pay up to 40m for him.

40m for Grimaldo???

Mendy was bought for 57m, Lucas D sold for 22m and we got Semedo for about 40 or more with the add-ons I believe. Cancelo 40m, Odriozola 30m and Danilo 30m.

It might be a little bit too much, but if he keeps developing I can see him being valued at 40m.

How much do you value him? or you do not rate at all?

Can't see him coming. Alba's 29, he'll start for at leat a few more years. Grimaldo wouldn't want to be a backup, not to say it's too expensive for a backup.

I'd look elsewhere if Miranda fails.

^ you are right. He would not be a backup, I was thinking more of a starter for next season or the season after. But we have to wait and see how he develops "and injury situation". With CL appearances, De Jong, Grimaldo, De Ligt, Ndombélé, Aouar and Rúben Dias's prices are going to increase a lot.

As you said, I cannot see us getting him though.

We need to forget about Grimaldo. We have Miranda coming up, and that's all we need. Losing this kid was devastating and is imo Lucho's biggest mistake by far, but as with every talent that comes through, we'll always have another who looks like they can fill the hole left behind.

This! Give Miranda a chance and forget about the past.

A. Madrid wants him. F. Luis is apparently on his way to PSG.

The rumoured price is about 30m and Barcelona will get 10%.

Just read this from a Benfica fan on Reddit re Grimaldo:

man, he is very strong going foward with the ball, very clever movements, he knows when to keep running in the wing or when the games needs to go more to the mid field. But man, he not fast enough, or strong enough, his def positioning its laughable and his reposition when he goes foward is nonexistent since he doesnt have much pace. I still like the guy, but the amount of goal we suffer bc of him its abismal, the only reason i am a bit affraid of losing him, its bc i dont trust our board to get someone better.

I might be wrong, but i think that grimaldo doesn't have and never will have enough quality to play for a team better than ours, in my personal ideal Benfica he wouldnt play here either. But as long as he keeps being magnificent on FM i am ok with him.

He's also pretty injury prone during his time at Benfica.

Going to Benfica was a good move by him at the time but doesn't seem like he massively improved his defending abilities.

lol you can't take any comment related to football from fucking reddit serioisly.

Grimaldo is very versatile, young, a fucking freekick specialist, and by no means slow. He has the potential to be a world class player and in my opinion we should definitely bring him back if were going to sign a backup left back. Alba is getting older aswell so the timing to bring him back here in near future would be perfect. Not only would we get a backup LB but a possible future starter.

I used to say this years ago when he was like 17-18 and I'll say it again now, Grimaldo's career would be so much more impressive if he had just played in midfield or as a winger. He is not a natural defender and it highlights a weakness in his game while downplaying his strengths. There would be a much more positive perception of his abilities if he just played in a position where his 1v1 defense isn't a make or break attribute.

So if a Benfica fan posts something on Reddit his opinion is void?
