All of the success Atletico have had both in terms of Liga contender-ship and making the CL final and winning the Europa league final in recently years have come through Grizou's goals.

tbh that isn't the case in Spain. The release clause isn't related to the buying club.
It is about labour movement and the ability to leave working place for fair compensation, it is actually a labour law and not a football one.
For that, the player is the one who was actually paying the release clause, not the buying club. And prior to 2016 that caused problems because those money that club pays was considered income and therefore was taxed

Its pathetic, the sooner Barto and crew are no longer running barça the better for the club.
Barça should be focusing on strengthening the positions that are lacking (rightback, back-up leftback, centerforward) and not getting an expensive 28 year old to play him out of position.

Can't see what Barto has done wrong here, its just Atletico being pissed that their best player has left to their biggest rivals, they didn't seem to care when Bayern did the same thing with Hernandez.
Barca needed to strengthen the attack, we can't expect Messi to carry the team for another season at 32, he needs help. Griezmann can play centre forward for us, Valverde will have many different attacking options, I don't think he will start Suarez if he thinks there is a better alternative, last year there wasn't. Dembele Griezmann Messi would be a fantastic front 3, with Griezmann being much more dynamic than Suarez he can help us defend from the front which will please Valverde. I think it will be Suarez who loses out here.
Its like they did this clause with the thought they will go on war the moment someone triggers it so they can say hey they have to pay 200 because they had an agreement before... Jerks...
