Seeing Gerrard getting a tribute like that and Puyol received nothing....:(

It hurts just to think about it. Puyol is a club icon, he was not sent off properly. I expected more from the club that takes pride in saying Mes que un club.

I don't think Puyol would've enjoyed a send off like the one Gerrard got/is getting though. Not saying he doesn't deserve it, because he does, but he is a low key guy and he's probably more hurt at the fact that they didn't win any trophies.

I can understand that, he does seem like a humble guy. And of course, going trophyless would hurt pretty much any player (excluding Cristiano maybe) more than not getting a spectacle send off. But the club is still guilty for doing a shitty job with it, regardless of Puyol's character. It does not absolve them.

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??
Clearly it didn't happen because although we love puyi we didn't think of doing that.
And we didn't think of doing that because we have many legendary players in this generation.
If we were struggling like liverpool, imagine if barca had 20 years to get a la liga, then puyi would get the same exit as gerrard.
But puyi don't need that, he knows he has our love and he has so many trophies and medals from his career.

Don't think Barca could have pulled off a celebration like what happened to Gerrard this year. The last game (at the Camp Nou too) was the league decider against Atleti. It would've been a little tacky to have Puyol's farewell right after that, especially considering the result.

Did Puyol inform the club after the season ended or before?

Puyol did get to say good bye in a ceremony at Camp Nou. Which was fitting.

Not quite sure about why he never said good bye after a game but seem to remember it was going to happen after Atletico game but never materialised once they got beat and lost league.

Before and he got good send off at a ceremony in which all the press, players and his family attended.

Puyol was injured and Barca was competing ,there was no chance to get the Gerard treatment
Gerard was healthy and playing while Liverpool basically had nothing else to cheer for other than their captain

We do mosaics quite frequently, that's the least we could have done. A "Gracies Puyi" mosaic would have been easy to pull off and it would have been dignified. It would have made for a proper send off.

You have no idea if Puyol even wanted that though.

The type of person he was could see him wanting the focus kept on team that was still going for title rather than mosaics to him.

It was Puyol who mentioned when he first confirmed retirement that he wanted a press conference to say bye to the fans.
