After USSR/Russia with 14 Euro Championship title, Yugoslavia (pre 90s war YU-5 and post war YU-3) is 2nd most successful team (8 titles). I just saw the list of past winners and was surprised to see that Spain failed to take a single title. I remember them having a solid team in the 90s.

    Great Britain - Slovenia
    59:72 (15:27, 20:10, 12:14, 12:21)

1st quarter was superb for us, then we got lost and we even allowed GB to take the lead...In the last quarter we showed them who's boss, but if we play like this against Serbia today, we don't stand a chance.

    Slovenia - Serbia
    80:69 (22:15, 17:14, 21:15, 20:25)

One of our best performances in recent years. Strong in defense all game, killer shooting percentage from distance as well as a lot of fighting for every rebounds...Just perfect Tommorow we play against Spain, but I don't expect us to win...Although they lost against Serbia, they just had a bad day yesterday and today against GB, they got their thing back going.

    Lithuania - Poland
    75:86 (23:25, 9:17, 18:18, 25:26)

Interesting...As it seems, Poland are very strong on their home court - or they might have a big support from the referee.

About Croatia: I thought they would put up a bigger fight against Greece..

I put Lithuania because they got to an Olypmic final one time. I don't understand basketball.

God doesn't pick football teams but if he did.... they'd probably look like this

Britain lost 86-74 to Spain but played superbly and even lead by 4 points at one stage in the 4th quarter before the Spanish finished strongly. The match showed that British basketball is heading firmly in the right direction and there's a hope that in the future we can emerge from the wilderness of international basketball to be able to compete more than we are right now.

Spain vs Slovenia will be quite a good match today. Russia vs France too.

Another two results from Group A:

    FYROM 71 - 81 Croatia
    Israel 80 - 106 Greece

    So the rankings are:

    1. Greece 3/0 6p.
    2. Croatia 2/1 5p.
    3. F.Y.R.O.M 1/2 4p.
    4. Israel 0/3 3p.

    always pleased to beat you

Slovenia - Spain --- after extra time
    84:90 (20:18, 15:25, 14:19, 29:16;6:12)

That was a close one! Well too bad we didn't win...We were very nervous in the 2nd and 3rd quarter and we didn't even know what to do with the ball. Then in the last quarter it was only a matter of time till we would catch up with Spain since we fought like freekin' lions! We equalised literaly in the last 10ths of a second with a shot from Erazem Lorbek Then in extra time, the players we're very tired, made a lot of mistakes(2 clear counter-attacks gone to waste) and Spain got away from us. One thing i'd like to point out is that Pau Gasol is a total ass. Someone in the stands whistled with a whistle, everybody thought that the play had been stoped, and then Pau Gasol just puts the ball into the basket like nothing happened...That was the turning point in extra time, where the Spanish got away from us for 5 or so points...It was a great game non the less

    2nd round, here we come!
