I would consider this ruling somewhat of a boon. Their new structural model necessitates the sale of its star players this summer, which means they will be going in to next season with mostly a fresh batch of players and technical staff. They'll 've to regroup and start again, for a competitive finish in the table hereon. Europe would've complicated matters, and hindered such a development. Better serve their European ban whilst in EL rather than in the CL. All's not lost.

This article shows yet again the moronic decisions of the Spanish government that hinders the expansion of La Liga. Sheikh Thani, the owner of Malaga had bought the club with an ambitious plan to build a sports city around Malaga's new stadium at its center. He had expected that he would bring multitudes of tourist and also build hotels. But due to the noncooperation of the government he faced a lot of difficulties in getting necessary permits for different buildings and establishments. As his ambitious plan ran into trouble he has stopped funding the club altogether and now wants to sell it. Al Thani's cousin, who is the current owner of PSG wanted to buy Malaga from his brother but all this difficulties thwarted that option as well. Now probably, Rezart Taci, who is an oil tycoon of Albania might buy the club. Taci is the owner of Bologna as well. Due to the unbelievably poor management from La Liga authorities and the sheer stupidity of Spanish government La Liga is and will be just a 2 horse race, with other potential clubs never reaching their maximum growth.

Why isn't Ochoa playing?

Because Kameni is arguably the best in the league, certainly outside the top 3/4.

Also, what an incredible job Gracia has done to turn this around. Touching the top half now.
