I'm a beauty hunter.
I make no apologies for the fact that if they abandoned their distinctive style or otherwise became boring to watch, I wouldn't punish myself by tuning in. I don't have much tribal or competitive instinct, so as I said in my introductory post, I'd never cry over a match, not even for my national team. It doesn't make sense to me.
I'm primarily a fan of football, the sport, and am much more interested in it as a concept than in any of its ever-changing and disposable component parts. I get just as much pleasure from memorising and categorising the rules of the game as I do from watching it. I'm even thinking of becoming a referee for that reason. But I won't judge other people for getting different things out of a form of entertainment than I do, and hope that most people wouldn't be petty enough to care how I enjoy something within the privacy of my own mind either.
However, for some of the reasons listed by dalitis8, I for the first time in my probably-undiagnosed-autistic life (hopefully not undiagnosed for much longer... verbal fluency can mask a dearth of more necessary skills) have begun to admire a club in such a way that I actually care to no small extent whether it wins or loses, almost like a regular fan. I suspect it must be a rather exceptional club to have won me over, and to be gaining more of my affection as time goes on. I believe the reason is that FCB in various ways contributes more in my opinion to the quality and positive influence of the sport globally than any other organisation and it doesn't look like that has changed or is going to change much for decades, trophies or no trophies.

"I am absolutely bloody furious about this and it has become a constant this summer. The quotes are almost entirely concocted and I am pretty sure that I know how it is happening. Me and a couple of other journalists who actually try (yes, yes, don't always succeed) to do the job properly and who are here in Spain are trying to do something about it." - Journalist Sid Lowe on the real Cesc scandal (ie the tabloid libel and people believing it)
from what website?

actually no, not the 12 year ones. the 20 + ones are the real glory hunters. if you haven't followed a team early you're never gonna follow them. the 12 year ones are sound and are gonna be true fans if they're not brough to the club by glory.
"Just because I don't watch La Liga, it doesn't mean I don't know who the players are."
Someone questions whether Guillem Laporta is a good player.
"I don't know him.... He'll be another crap player. "
