Depends what Piques thoughts are.

Operation and season gone and may never come back from it anyway or no operation to still play some more this season when Barca are short of CBs.

There is a lot about Pique not to like these days but this could very well he him putting his own long term health behind what club needs this season.

Mathieu when he tore his meniscus during the 2015/16 season decided to have it removed so he can get back ASAP to help the team.

He even said he would rather deal with the effects down the line when he gets older and help the team than sit out for 3-6 months. He was around 32-33 at the time as well.

Idt he followed any doctor's advice on this.
We saw with Ansu's case as well that no serious doctor nowadays recommends conservative treatment for knee injuries.

He is immature because he is prioritizing his short-term privileged status in the team, at the expense of both the team and his health in the long-term (not only his career which is ending)
