    Default World Rally Championship (WRC)

Just wondering if anyone else follows this, didn't see a thread already made

Here's to hoping somebody finally beats Loeb to the championship this year...

Yeah he's won 6 in a row now I believe... and he's still winning this year

Kimi has been doing decently his first season but he's not in the championship running. It's between Loeb, Ogier, Latvala, Hirvonen, P. Solberg basically. And Loeb's still in the lead.

tbh i think kimi is there for the money.
and because he couldnt find a team in F1.
its just like a break until he finds a team that is able to pay his mammoth salary demands.

Rumors are Renault might fire Petrov at the end of the season and bring in Kimi if he wants to come.

Although I really think Kimi actually enjoys rallying though, he looks so much happier there than he did in F1 last year. It was obvious last year when he went rallying several times in between F1 races and even put a clause in any potential future contract that he must be allowed to go rallying when he has no F1 obligation. His salary demands are/were ridiculous, yes, but I think WRC is more fun for him regardless.

I have always been a Kimi fan so I follow him closely

I'm really not sure where I want him to go next year. I preferred watching him in F1 but if he has more fun rallying he should stay where his heart is. Plus if he improves in WRC on his second season he could be a championship contender there some day... what a feat to win the world championship in both F1 and WRC

normally always go to the UK rally every year, Loeb's domination can be boring though, be good when he retires so someone else can win for a change, feel sorry for Hirvonen amazing driver but he's no where near Loeb

Hirvonen was fantastic last season, he's been lacking this year though and making mistakes. He's my favorite WRC driver (still don't really consider Kimi as one) so I really hope he can overcome whatever is going on, I know he's been getting shaken up lately

No the easiest way to explain is that they take street cars and prep them for off-road driving (they use mostly Citroen C4 and Ford Focus RS, there used to be a lot of Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evo but not so many anymore), they drive on surfaces like gravel, asphalt, snow, sometimes a combination. Very long and twisted sections of road that rely a lot on navigation and not just pure driver skill like circuit racing, lots of spectacular crashes too as a lot of times drivers will go off cliffs or hit trees etc if they're not careful. And the other difference is instead of like traditional racing where all the drivers go at once, in WRC they go one at a time and whoever records the fastest combined time at the end of all the stages wins the rally.

Really fun to watch, if you get the HD Theater channel that is where they broadcast the highlights in the US.

I used to follow this when Soldberg and Gronholm were winning titles. Haven't watched it much since. it's never on Speed TV any more.

haha was just joshin' I think I've seen races like these a few times not consistently though. I'll watch NASCAR & F1 every once in a great while too. Mostly I have DVR COPS as a series and then a NASCAR event will fuck it all up and record over it. I figure wtf and grow intrigued and watch for a bit.

I wanna get my RC Pro Am on now.

Oh ok NASCAR bores me tbh, I watch F1 and WRC mostly and sometimes touring car races if I come upon them.
