Time has come and growing costs have prompted me to consider some options for making things a bit easier with the costs of running a forum. Monthly payments aren't that big but we are in for a long haul and when you sum it up since the October 2008, plus 2 licences and directory cost, it climbed up to 4 digits number.
I tried contacting some football related companies to advertise but all I got were betting/casino offers and since I wouldn't want the site to advertise gambling, I declined.
Ads don't necessarily mean a bad thing. Google offers option for advertising based on content of the website so if we went for that it would display football related ads. As for donations, it's up to you and whether you feel you can contribute and if we can't keep them up we can always turn to ads to raise some money.

I agree I think ads would provide a steadier income. As long as they don't get in the way everywhere I don't think it will have much effect on the site tbh. I'm sure plenty of us could give a small donation but who knows how much that will add up to and how long it would last.
