I feel we've missed out here. We should have taken the chance on him, especially with it being so cheap. If it didn't work out in like 18 months, we could have easily doubled our money back.

But our board only likes spending over the odds and losing money.

If he was Brazilian we would have signed him long ago. But our board knew better, getting a Brazilian with flair whose only attribute was sometimes scoring long shots, instead of an AJAX graduate.

The numbers speak for himself and he is probably the best Spurs-midfielder in history. However, he doesn't come across as the player who puts in the extra effort and Barça can't afford another primadonna who isn't willing to fight for the shirt.

Why do you think that? Him being so cheap and not a single top-tier club chasing him is a sign that he is not as good as some think. Why would a club wait 18 months until he flops at Barça and then pay more than 20M for him? People tend to forget the salary. Apparently he has accepted a four-and-a-half-year contract worth a basic £260,000 a week that could rise to £320,000 with add-ons. If he flops you'll have to be thankful when another club is ready to pay his salary.

lol @ Inter.

It sends a huge message that nobody out of Real/Barca/Bayern/Atletico/Juventus/Bayern/Liverpool/City wanted this guy. Even the struggling clubs who have money like Chelsea/United/Arsenal didn't even make an approach on him.

This is a classic Football Manager attitude that you can't extrapolate to reality

Probably didn't have much of a choice.

He is quite a good player imo and there were numerous rumours around him from clubs like rm, barca and others but he was offered a new contract and he constantly refused, can't understand why he'd chose goint to inter and not remaining to spurs.

later edit : looking at his new salary it starts to get clear he chose the money wile still in european top football.
