it's not THAT ridiculous if you consider 2 things...

1) both players tend to get injured a lot and for quite some time at that.
2) david silva plays a lot behind the strikers since mata has the role as left winger. and he's pretty good. kaká, VDV & guti are now, david silva & canales may very well be the future for real in that departement.

to be fair, you said the very same thing (FM not real life, ridiculous to think it will be more than 4/5 players) to me last year, when we were discussing pérez' & valdanos plans to sign granero, negredo, arbeloa, xabi alonso, david villa, r. albiol, garay, cristiano & kaká. now, besides david villa, who got replaced (very poorly) by benzema and the loan of negredo, they did sign all 9 players (8 if you count out negredo).

i'll wait and see what plans these 2 have in mind for this years summer. if anything can be said about last years discusion and the summer, it's that with pérez & valdano at madrid, FM and real life have come a lot closer.

First no it was the same exact targets you claimed now , you kept banging all summer about Ribery + Silva + the other super stars not the Granero & co ..Garay wasn't bought by Valdano as well
the additional players replaced existing star players..(Robben & Sneijder who everyone including the manager excluded ) at the end we actually bought 6 players ..
Albiol,Arbeloa,Xabi,Kaka,CR & Benzema ..
Granero & Garay were our own it was a case of return loan and activate peanuts buy back (same for Negredo who we sold for 3 times his value to Seville )

now you old summer suggestion of buying 2 LM /AM starters will replace who exactly ?those 150 + Million Euro players ? or we will play

some sense Nando , Perez said he spent the budget of 3 seasons so expect more Canales and less CR's
