if such a deal is on the table, take it and run. thiago and another quality CM (with rakitic in the mix) would put us back in contention for CL, with coutinho moving up to the forward line along with messi and dembele.
with thiago and another quality CM who won't wet the bed under the slightest pressure, messi won't have to drop so deep where he is rendered ineffective with current tactics. so there's no excuse for messi not to stay in the final third at that point.
