Injuries ruined him during his days at Arsenal. When he finally got to play here for us at the start of the 2015/16 season he looked solid, enough where he could be a decent backup option but he got injured again and he never got back into proper rhythm again due to that.
I wonder how things would have gone for him if he wasn't made out of glass over the course of his career so far.
He is under contract, so releasing him will cost a lot of money.
Vermaelen being considered a "new signing" for next season perhaps?
