When our attack picks up form and starts breaking down teams regularly, I'd really like to see Vermaelen get a run out. Can't help but be curious if he can actually succeed here, though I'd want it to be tested in low-risk scenarios when we can comfortably dispatch 3/4 goals against teams to offset any possible defensive frailties on our end. We've been pleasantly surprised by almost all of our signings/newbies so far, perhaps he can continue the trend.

I seriously think he might be in danger of being that player who will always be in the reserves. I honestly can't see him getting playing time over Mathieu, Pique, Masch, or Bartra

He will be 2nd choice for the LCB spot behind Mathieu. Pique and Masche will be first choice for RCB. Bartra will make up the numbers. IMO.

He has been training normally. But he has been out for some time now, so I doubt we will see him in our next 2 games. Maybe against Granada.
