    Alberto Botía

    Age: 19
    Position: Central defender

Another Barca Athletic prospect. As a youngster signed from Murcia and ever since he`s been known for his aerial ability. Still waits for his debut though. He can also be used as right back.

    Re: Alberto Botía

Alberto Botía. 19. Centre back who dominates in the air both in defence and in attack. Came to Barça from Murcia as a youngster and has always scored goals thanks to his height and heading ability. Played with Bojan in the Under-18s and both made their reserve team debuts two years ago at Huesca. Last season Rijkaard called him up for an Espanyol game. Can also play at right back and as defensive midfielder. Has scored once this season with Barça Atlètic.

    Defanitly one for the future.

Sporting Gijon have taken him on loan for next season, no purchase option in the clause (:biggrin. Could be great for him. Worked wonders for Piqué, but to be fair that was at United with better coaching staff.

Agreed. Will be a good chance for us to see Botia playing some first division football

Even though we've talked a lot about Muniesa, Botia is closer to senior football. It will be interesting to see if he's Barca first-team quality. Gijon's defense was dreadful last year though...it will be a real test for him

God doesn't pick football teams but if he did.... they'd probably look like this

Apparently our Botia screwed up Spain's game vs. Italy by getting a red card.

Isn't he in Sporting Gijon? Or it's a loan?

I know he's in Sporting. It's not an actual loan. If I'm correct we gave them Botia for free but reserved an option to buy him back.
