Thread: 7 - David Villa

    Default 7 - David Villa

According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, City's wealthy owners are keen to bring Valencia striker David Villa to Eastlands and will offer €69 million to secure hiManchester s services.

Apparently, the player's agent, Jose Luis Tamargo, has already been to Eastlands to iron-out a contract for his client with the Blues offering €173,000-a-week for five years.

Valencia are currently third in La Liga and while it is unlikely that they will want to sell one of their top players during a title push, their poor financial status may force them to do so.

El Guaje (The Kid) has been one of the most lethal forwards in Spanish football in recent years and he has already scored 12 goals from just 14 games this season.

While the former Real Zaragoza man has been well known to many fans of European football for years, he came to the attention of a wider audience this summer when he helped guide Spain to the Euro 2008 title, finishing as the tournament's top scorer with four goals.

I`d be happy if he choose City cause I dont want him in scum's team..sad for liga fans though

A fantastic striker in my opinion but I doubt he will move to Man City.

Either Real or Barca would be realistic

I dont wanna see him at Barca but I also don`t want him to go to Madrid. Benzema and Aguero are better imo.

We're not really a realistic destination for him. Samu is the same age and just as good if not better and we only play one central striker. Villa doesn't play out wide. It would be preferable if he went to Inter or an Italian side because if a Premiership club got him it would be a big dent in La Liga.

If Man City are really offering that type of money then Villa is likely going to end up there. I don`t think he'll move in the winter though because he'll probably want to see if they (Man City) at least qualify for the UEFA Cup. If they don't and Valencia finish top four chances are he'll stay there, or, like you say he'll end up at one of the big Italian clubs.

Valencia have some serious financial issues and I think he will leave sooner then expected.

I read they raised 40 million euros and are not so desperate anymore. Don't know how true that is though. I just don't see Villa going to Man City if they don't make it to Europe. But for 69 mil anything is possible. Hell, i'll sell my soul to the devil for 1 million Euros, for 69 mil, I'll sell that of my mother, future wife, children, and poodle

    Name: David Villa
    Age: 27
    Team: Valencia

Eto wasn`t on the scoresheet yesterday but Villa was, once again. It was his 19th La Liga goal this season. 4 less than Samuel Eto.

Villa scored 110 goals in La Liga in 187 matches. Thats 0,59 per game.

Eto scored 137 goals in *******212************* 0,65 per game

Sure Eto'o has scored more goals, but the thing about Villa is he scores a lot of difficult goals, he does it himself in contrast with Eto'o who get's a lot of help from his team. I donät want to take anything away from Samuel but I believe Villa is the sharpest finisher in the world. It doesn't matter if it's in Valencia or the nationalteam, he always score.
It is like some kind of magnetism between Villa and the goal when the ball leaves his foot or head.

    Logical post mmandela.
But still... I believe that the easier-to-score-in-big-clubs theory has more than few holes in it.
How come that very often we see top goalscorers coming from minor teams?

Example: Last 9 seasons in Spain

    2000 Salva Ballesta, Racing - 27
    2001 Raul, Madrid - 24
    2002 Diego Tristan, Depor - 21
    2003 Roy Makaay, Depor - 29
    2004 Ronaldo, Madrid - 24
    2005 Forlan, Villarreal - 25
    2006 Eto, Barca - 26
    2007 Van Nistelrooy, Madrid - 25
    2008 Guiza, Mallorca - 27

5 out of 9 times, top goalscorers came from a team that wasn`t in race for the title
