We didn't dodge anything, if we bid on him it was 100% corruption/self sabotage. The guys always been shit, genuinely don't understand where the hype comes from. He has 2 good games a year at best that's it.
Don't understand the fascination with Brazilian players fucks sake. Not everyone is an alves, Ronaldinho or Ronaldo. We shouldn't care about their nationality only how good they are and how well they fit the team.
We bought the 2nd best Brazilian player out there and he's currently struggling because we didn't think about where we were going to play him when we bought him.

I'm sure you'd be saying the same of William... I disagree Adriano was total crap. Paulinho was something different and wasn't here for long. Maxwell was as mediocre as they come, Mediocre is not good enough for barca.

Adriano was very good for us but he overstayed, huge difference. Same thing happened with Pinto and sadly many here only remember how it ended not how it started. Maxwell was also very good back up.
Maxwell and Adriano was signed as back up for LB position, and was good enough for back up role (except Adriano last 2 years)

So would you waste our limited non-EU spots on mediocre backup players these days? Because that's all they were, Mediocre at best.

They had EU passports, except Paulinho whom we had really no one without EU passport when he arrived.

Looked for it, thought he was one of Brazilians who had Italian passport from the start like Kaka but apparently he wasn't
Anyway, we had plenty of non-eu players who weren't starters. The rules in Liga is pretty easy (half the globe are considered domestic, those with EU wives are considered domestic, and Latin players gets EU passport in 3 years max) so depending on circumstances, we don't always need to make non-EU players a starter. Doesn't take anything from the player himself
