Defender will be operated on by Doctors Cugat and Pruna, who will then offer a press conference
Andreu Fontàs will be operated on by Doctors Ramon Cugat and Ricard Pruna this Saturday for the ruptured cruciate ligament he suffered in Pamplona last Thursday.
After the operation, at approximately 13.00, both Doctors will hold a press conference at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

With the introductions of both Muniesa and Barta into the team, Fontas will find it hard to compete for places with the starting line up especially with how slow he is. We need to loan him out where he can play regularly with a team and see if he can improve with his fitness and when he is good enough, let him come back to Barca.
He is not Barca material-simple.

Yes, but being a Catalan and La Masia graduate helps. Plus he will be after long termi injury, so Fontas despite being clearly not good enough for Barcelona will stay in next season and then he will become new Hleb - loan after loan, loan, loan, end of contract, signing with relegation level Primera Division team.
I have some hope on Bartra, and big hope on Montoya. Muniesa will probably not make it here, but I don't rate Fontas at all and don't have any hope for him.
If he stays, will he be able to catch the pre-season with the team??
he was injured in late January, so I think he might be ready by mid July.

He'll get the greean light on august 7th, and will go with the team on Sweeden - Romania tour .. hopefully he gets some minutes.

I don't. And Bartra is better than him. Fontas should be loaned.
I think Fontas did well in 10\11 when he stayed with the 1st team after Abi's tumor, but then when he got the 1st team squad jersey he got really bad and lost confident. don't know why tbh, he had some potential.
