Limited role player is what he's always been but given far more trust than he's worth on account of him having this "blue collar La Masia boy who worked his way up" brand tagged on him. The blue collar coming from the fact that he was never seen as super talented but "hard work and perseverance" and all that jazz, but now as a gimmick he's been trusted so much for doing some things right while he does a lot of things wrong.
Never should've been a permanent starting RB, and shouldn't be a permanent midfielder. He's absolutely wildly inconsistent with like 2-3 bad games for every good one. The fact that he's a captain is a complete joke.

The whole team was shit in the first half with Roberto being one of the few players that tried to move the ball quickly. Played as a right back in the second half.

Roberto was one of few that tried to move off ball and showed some energy.
Will never be the greatest when game is really tight but far from worst tonight in a team of old fuckers that swanned about.

Great game by him as RB.
Comparing to our fullbacks, Roberto playmaking ability remains a class on its own in comparison.

He is still a midfielder in my eyes, no matter how many times he has deputized as RB.
The Xavi-Iniesta comparison always made him look inferior as a md, but that's not fair. He is a different type of md, and the last 5-6 games we have seen some traits of what he can offer there.
There are many things that a RB 'naturally' does that Roberto does not, because he doesn't 'feel' it.
If Semedo stays, Semedo should cement his place as first-choice RB, and Roberto should find his permanent role in the md

I don't understand the point of him playing in midfield. All he does is cover ground.
With the ball he's basically useless, and with Rakitic in midfield as well it makes us handicapped.
There were runs from Semedo he ignored a couple of times. His distribution from central midfield is worse than Arthur's.
