Awful to watch. 90 minutes felt like 90 days. The strange thing is though, with the Czechs being shocked last night by Lithuania, Scotland have a great shot at 2nd! Need to improve a hell of a lot though

hopefully spain crush you into double figures, hate seeing a set of fans boo and national anthem and not winning last night would have been just desserts.

I dont like to see it but Scotland aint the only guilty party when it comes to that. However, the SFA need to send out a strong message about this, it was hugely disrespectful and bang out of order. To be honest, you have a point, it would have been just desserts

The Scots were booing because the Lichtenstein anthem uses the same music as 'God Save The Queen'. Still it was unnecessary.

The bigger picture is that Scotland needs more indoor facilities, better coaches and drag Scottish kids away from their computers and into playing.

Time was when one could whistle up a tricky winger, creative midfielder and no nonsense defender of real class. Celtic and Rangers in particular considering the size of Glasgow are not doing a good job at all of producing their own and hence benefitting the national side.

Uruguay on the other hand after losing their street football which was a mainstay of their sucess, and focusing on producing big physical players returned to an intensive programme of skill based youth football over fifteen years ago. Look at how their under age group sides are now performing and consider their population as a whole is less than Scotland.

I'm talking about coaching at youth levels, facilities and participation. It's not good enough. You talk to former Scottish internationals and they are bemoaning the lack of street football and decline in junior football where several junior clubs from Leith to Clydebank have gone into the pages of history.

    Charlie Adam...

He's what we've been missing, easily our best player when he was on the pitch, 2 assists and ran the game.

++ Barry Bannan and Danny Wison both had excellent debuts..

    Looking good for the future.

Indeed it does look brighter than for a long while. And others like Templeton waiting in the wings.

Pity McArthy decided to opt for the Eire route.
