Ziganda won't return as coach next season. Not all that surprised considering how poor Bilbao have been this season. He's basically a poor man's Version of Valverde.

First player in La Liga without a buy out clause. Didn't know this was even allowed.

I think you can do whatever you want in contract but players can go to court and let them decide the fair buyout
Hence RM rumoured insane buyouts, same for latest renewals like Roberto
We are simply betting playwes won't dare to go to court

Kenan Kodro to Bilbao. He's a son of Real Sociedad legend Meho Kodro who has also played one season (1995-96) for Barça.

Don't really know what (if anything) he can bring to Bilbao.

Is he of full Bosnian heritage or half Spanish?

If he is fully Bosnian he only qualifies due to his birth place (San Sebastián). He scored 7 goals in 28 apperanes for Osasuna during the 2016-17 season. His only season in La Liga to date. Looking at his stats he has not exactly set the world on fire otherwise. Seems like he is more suited to Spanish football like his father looking at his career.

BTW, we are going to face Athletic at the San Mamés after the Valencia game and this weekend Athletic will play against their greatest rivals La Real. Athletic are, just like Valencia, much better currently than just a few weeks ago. It won't be easy.

Don't know but it seems Bilbao is slowly getting away from their Basque only policy.

Agreed they are looking a much better team. Since Gaizka Garitano took over from Berizzo they are unbeaten (4 wins, 3 draws) in La Liga.

I know Kodro was born in San Sebastian. .

I was thinking more about this...

In summer 2017, Athletic recruited Youssouf Diarra, an 18-year-old forward born in Mali who was raised in Catalonia and had spent the past two years playing for clubs in Navarre after moving these to continue his education, which the club deemed sufficient under the policy.[104][105][106] The previous year they had signed 16-year-old Colombia-born defender Deiby Ochoa, who lived in La Rioja and had only ever played for clubs in that region.[107][108] Both players had attended trial matches at the Lezama training centre.

In January 2018, Athletic announced a new signing who was more obviously non-Basque by ethnicity: 25-year-old Cristian Ganea, a Romanian international[112] who was also born in that country and had only played for Romanian clubs for the past five years. But prior to that, he had spent his teenage years living in Basauri just outside Bilbao and had featured for local teams (including Basconia, Athletic's farm team at semi-professional level who have a separate amateur and juvenile structure), meaning he too was eligible under the 'learned skills at a Basque club' aspect of the policy.[113][114]

IIRC 15-20 years ago at least one of players grandparents had to be a Basque. In recent years they have soften their criterias for eligibility a lot so players like Kodro (born to non-Basque parents in Basque country) can sign with Bilbao. Nothing against this, it's their decision after all, just saying that they are not as "hardcore" anymore as they were. Probably staying competitive in La Liga getting always tougher with "true Basque players only" plays some role in all of this.

If Bilbao keeps playing like this they may make a run at the UCL. Probably won't be able to with the lack of scoring options. Still one of the more interesting teams to watch at times

Unai Simon has renewed with Bilbao until 2025 with no release clause.

One of the best GKs in La Liga last year. He was also called up for NT and with the form both DDG and Kepa are in wouldn't surprise me if he'd become #1 GK for Spain sooner or later.
