Good article looking at Athletic's Basque policy. Apparently Bielsa wants Antoine Griezmann; he's been playing for Real Sociedad long enough to qualify easily and the biggest obstacle is chemistry and money (Athletic are financially healthy but very conservative when it comes to spending).
Also answered the question some of us have - Athletic in fact did consider looking into Higuain. Apparently Higgy is serious about his Basque heritage.
The club had also looked at signing a player like Gonzalo Higuain who is Basque from his maternal grand-mother´s lineage. He has studied Euskara and belonged to basque organizations in the diaspora.(They are a little more cautious here. Apparently Forlan wanted to play for Athletic but they weren't interested.)In their day Diego Forlan, Roberto Ayala, and Didier Deschamps would all have qualified
Well it would be a massive shame if this team implodes, or if the top teams rip them apart so cornering strict rules makes sense especially as it boils down to this: Do you care or attached to the club? Yes! Play.
