He´s 23 years old, French, plays Defensive Midfielder for Portsmouth now. Quite impressive I heard, used to play for Chelsea and Arsenal as well in the past. Probably Madrid need him to replace M.Diarra.

Brilliant player. Ive watched him since he got some games for chelsea and was really impressed with him. Alright tackler, but he hassles the opponents well and makes good interceptions. His only downside is he is pretty short, but that never stopped makélélé! He and manuel fernandes are the two best young defensive midfielders in my opinion. I was surprised when chelsea let him go, but even more surprised when arsenal let him go. Its good to see a big club come in for him and he'll probably get a fair bit of game time at madrid. Bad news for fc barcelona though!

I`m not quite sure tbh. For example Mahmadou Diarra was a lot better player prior his Real Madrid career.

That was when he was played in a midfield which really suited his needs. At madrid they made him not only tackle, but also pass the ball or bring it further forward. At lyon he had essien and juninho in a three man midfield, and they worked like clockwork. Diarrá was the pure destroyer, juninho the passer, and essien was a bit of both. In fact come to think of it that was a fucking good midfield! But thats why he excelled so much at lyon.

Madrid do have a tendancy to buy players and shoe horn them into a system as opposed to create a system based on the players at its disposal. I guess with ramos the former may be true again since he plays the 4-4-2 religiously.
