I think that if Cáceres leaves, it must be on loan. It would be a complete waste to sell him cheap at such a young age, while if we loan him out, at least he has a chance to prove himself.
That is if Pep doesn't see him getting playing time next year.

And we paid a hell of a lot of money for Caceres. so selling him no, would be the most stupid thing to do, imo.

On the other hand, something will have to move in with the central defenders. If Henrique is coming to barca, and Milito gets fit and stays we'll have no more than 6 central defenders, which is obviously too many.
Realistic options are:

-Henrique on another loan. but he has been very good, as i have heard, and some time ago it was confimred he would be in Barca next year.
- Loan out Caceres, but in which team he'll get a lot of playing time, after a season like this one?
- we could move Puyol to right back permantly.
- get rid of Milito. Although he was good when he played, i doubt that he'll ever return on the highest level.
- Selling Puyol/Marquez? not one of my favorite options, but still a posibility.

I think we should reduce our central defender up to 4 on which we have confidence, so no Caceres like this year where we don't trust him in CL final. That is as good as not having a central defender.

Positive news as far as i'm concerned. People will certianly leave, but it seems that Pep will be looking to add more compared to the number of players that leave, including adding a couple of youth players for sure.

That's the difference, and it's thanks to Pep's passion and desire to be involved with all things Barca that now see's us as League, Cup and European champions.

If i had to choose the players i wanted with money no option there would be (in order of importance):
Left Wing - Frank Ribery (Rotate with Henry/Eto'o/Messi)
Left Back - Yuri Zhirkov (Rotate with Abidal)
Striker - David Villa (Rotate with Henry/Eto'o)
Central Midfielder - Cesc Fabregas (Rotate with Iniesta/Xavi)

Whether we could get even one of these players however is still to be seen. Zhirkov would likely be the easiest to attain, hijack the rumoured Chelsea deal for him. Though all together would probably cost around (note: following number is a total guesstimate based on adding random numbers in my head) 150 millionish.

Puyol is iconic for Barca mate. He stays. What a game he had in Rome. What a player.

My point is that we don't have a proper back-up for our right back, plus Alves just plays to much. That will come back in our face. We should try to rest him a little bit more. It'll keep him fresher and more out of injury. For me it's not really a surprise he got injured now. He just played too much which makes players more vurnerable for injury's.

I'm for a replacement for as well right and left back. I doubt Sanchez can bring the goods to the table, so Puyol could be the one covering the rightback, but then he should play more as a right back next year. And that was more or less what i meant by moving him permantly to right back.

Have 5 central defenders, for me, is way to much. that means that you some will not even play in matches where the reserve are being played...
