We've just come off the back of the treble and the transfer market hasn't even opened yet. We don't need to rebuild and we don't need to pull a Madrid. Which might not even work cause you can't always throw stars into a team like that. Sure it's depressing to hear that favourites such as Ribéry and Villa are getting away from us, and I hate it because those are the two signings I would have wanted most personally. But if you think about it, if they're really going for 60 million euros and other such fees, is it really something that we want? Barca messed up in the transfer market. Or at least it seems like that right now. While Madrid were president-less, we couldn't make a bloody move. But now that that's been done and dusted, we can't take every transfer rumour and put all our hopes in it, only for it to be blown by other potential bullcrap transfer rumours. We have to accept what has happened, that some huge mistakes have been made. We will find our own solutions. We have a world class squad and we will sign the right refreshments for the right positions. And chances are we will end up missing some of our top targets. But in that case, let's just be a bit more PTC and put our faith in the players that won us the treble. It's Pep now and not Frank, and that changes things a lot.
Ultimately, as culés, we have to accept our shortcomings in the transfer market. Transfer blunders have been more common over the past how many years than transfer successes. And Madrid, Chelsea, United et al have always gotten bigger names and better individual signings. But the difference is that we have that core of players committed to the club, plus the one or two good signings, and finally some very competent squad players who pull us through and win for us. And we have our philosophy, our wonderful managers and our history. So let's stop acting like we're Madrid and everything is possible. It's just no good. For Barca, it will always be "silly season" as CA put it. We have to be realistic as fans during the summer, not dreamy and overly hopeful.
Barca fans such as CA hate the transfer season because they know what it's like, historically, to be a Barca fan. It's the autumn, winter and spring that bring us most joy, and hardly the summer. But let's accept that, and try to be positive!
