Playing Rakitic and Busi together along with Roberto at RB and Coutinho at LW is a recipe for disaster in the CL knockouts especially against a team like Lyon.

Rakitic and Busi cannot handle playing teams that press us high, Coutinho is to slow to be effective danger man on the wings and Roberto struggles even against bottom dweller wingers these days.

I like Lyon, but they are very naive. They leave so much spaces at the back it's crazy. And their defenders are blunder prone. That's a bad combo. But they have fast, dangerous players who can press well as a unit.

We should be able to get a result like a draw or something in France and finish them on Camp Nou much like we did vs Chelsea (hopefully in a more clear fashion as we suffered a lot vs Chelsea and were lucky).

Has EV ever watched an opponent's game in person? I don't remember if he has ever done that as a Barca coach.

No idea, he struck me as someone who is totally by the book, rigid and lazy. So probably not.

I am hoping at least he asked someone to tape this game for him to watch later.

It will probably be us playing our slow possession game in France, smothering Lyon's counters in a rather boring game of 0-0 or 1-1. Chelsea away part II. Only way we beat them clearly away is if we arrive in mint physical conditions in which case we basically outplay them due to our vastly superior quality.

But I'd say it's a safe bet that, considering Valverde's issues, Lyon will outmatch us in intensity and workrate.

What a red card tackle from Fekir. Could've torn Parades' ACL.

Usual stuff against PSG.
The match before there was a red for a Rennes player and even when VAR called their referee, he didn’t change his decision.

PSG also getting lot of penalty against but not for them in the same situation.

Anyway, neither team was impressive but Lyon did better.
Deserved win and poor showing from PSG but expected.

I just watched a portion of the game and am impressed by Lyon fighting spirit and athleticism, supported by a fanatic crowd. Not just wine country! We need to be very careful, not underestimating them like Man City.

We really need Dembele back in form for Lyon away, and indeed any big tie. Messi is the worlds greatest but Dembele is the joker. Unbelievable pace and end product for the counter.

Check the second goal in Lyons home loss to Rennes in december. These are the type of situations we need to take advantage of with Messi and Dembele.

One thing for sure, we are going to suffer a lot in these ties. Just as we did against Lyon in the old days.

Lyon eye €400m revenue fuelled by new multi-purpose arena:

The new venue would be built near the Ligue 1 side’s Groupama Stadium, hosting both sporting and cultural events with a capacity to hold between 10,000 and 15,000 people depending on the space required.

It was not revealed which sports would be staged at the arena, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said the club hope to be able to present the project before next summer.

“We're giving ourselves between two to three years for it to be operational,” said Aulas. “Olympique Lyonnais has the know-how and the financial means, so we would like to be able to present the project before next summer. We'll also determine the site's location and for this we're meeting with elected officials from Décines and Meyzieu.”

Premier League clubs dominate Deloitte soccer rich list top ten

Aulas also reaffirmed his desire for the new site to form part of a “full entertainment” offering that would see two to three million people visit the club each year.

The plans were outlined during a press conference regarding Lyon’s financial performance for the first half of the 2018/19 season, which saw the club’s pre-tax earnings reach €53.9 million (US$60.7 million) with an operating income of €26.3 million (US$29.6 million).

Lyon ranked 28th in the 2019 Deloitte Football Money League with revenues of €164.2 million (US$185 million), but Aulas is confident that the club’s five-year plan will see them break into the top 20 of European soccer’s richest teams.

“This should enable us to generate €400 million of turnover and thus join the ranks of the top 20 most successful European clubs,” he said.

Based on this year’s list, revenues of €400 million would have seen Lyon rank tenth, in between Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and Italian champions Juventus. European champions Real Madrid topped the rankings with a total revenue of €750.9 million (US$846.1 million).
