Good start but griezmann and coutinho resorted to “look for Messi” tactics after 30 mins. Love Fati for being independent and doing only what’s best for the team. Kid is very mature

It seems to me Messi doesn't make any runs almost. All he does when teammates have the ball is drop to a worse position than whichever player is carrying the ball, and ask ball to feet for HIM to make the play. Like he usually does. You just have to give him the ball in these moments.

and yet they keep indulging him. the only way to eliminate this stifling behaviour is to just bypass him and try to do something else. sooner or later he'll have to up his ambition off the ball.

Not so easy. The central player is very important option for both wings in advancing the play. Look at Firmino. He is a main passing outlet for both Salah and Mane every time they go inside. Precisely because it's hard for Salah and Mane to often find themselves in situations to pass directly to each other, considering they play on opposite wings.
