With a strong board, senior players wouldn't have been a problem.

Look at Bayern.

And even for them, they held onto Ribery and Robben 2 years too long. Moved on from them in 2017-18 when it should have been 2015.

Lahm retired to save them a headache. Bastian was also a gentleman and knew he was finished by 2015.

Look at Bayern and Real.

Legends are a problem for any team, but not at this degree. We fucked it up big time. Who the hell gives 4 or 5 years extensions to already past it players? At this age, 2 years is a good contract extension.

If we didn't hand out generous extensions like that we'd get players like Busi, Pique, Alba, Suarez, off our wages next season even if they want to stay. By simply running down their contracts.

We act as if every player is still competitive at 35. When only a very few select ones are, while the lazy, unathletic ones drop off at 32 already. We have no veterans who look like keeping their fitness level well in their 30s.

Isn't it usually the case of shorter contract = higher salary, and vice versa?

Where is Alba in the salary list?
