Quique Setien

There is so much wrong about this comment, you actually believe that manager or coach run the show ? Management will always favor the players want. Managers doesn't sell shoes, shirts and why people watching the game it's the players. Kobe and LeBron are a good example how they will show and act if they dislike the coach tactics. Messi too with Lucho's first year, there is a reason people called him lil dictator 😂
If you want Setien more than the players, sell them even Messi, not just name players you dislike and let Messi stay. He's part and leader of the Amigos, but you know I know and every one know this is FC Messi and you guys are not ready to see Barca i Europa League

 who let this troll in?

He's obviously trying to make them play pep-ball what with players changing places, defenders joining attack and attackers pressing around the pitch, but that requires more work, you see. This is why they suddenly "don't understand their roles and instructions" lmao. Somehow they did 10 years ago, but not anymore. They should really fuck off. Say you can't play the ball like a man anymore and be done with it.

They’re not going to fuck off. That’s the problem we’ll have to deal with in the summer and beyond. All seniors will still be here next season I’m sure of it. Rakitić, Busi, Alba, Suarez, Pique and they will expect to start aswell, that’s the monster the board helped create.

So how exactly is a new coach supposed to implement anything new with the existing status quo still in place. There’s already a creeping mutiny under QS. It’s tough to implement new ideas when you have guys like Rakitić trying everything possible to stay at the club even though he’s clearly done at this level.

Think we have to hit it way lower for things to change more dramatically. Things were left in slow decay with amigos calling the shots. Maybe Setien is not the man to lead the new cycle so no need to be too upset anyway.

2021 will probably be it with a new president and club finally letting go of old guard. Until then there will be turbulence so prepare for a ride with a next season being a finale with another big transfer splash and ultimate demise of amigos. Or a last hurrah?

Maybe he's not the man, but you can't know that after 3 matches and some training sessions. And nobody will be the man if the players throw a hissy fit when they are asked to train harder and with more intensity.

To be fair, if you have someone like Sergi Roberto struggling to understand RCB, Ansu RWB then it is understandable.

Confirmed by private and close sources, the players are happy about Quique Setién's way of working. [md]
Setién: "A lot of things that we wanted to convey to the players, are already visible in training sessions. I am glad that these guys have the ability to understand things that they are shown right away."

I hope he doesn't become a puppet and a yes man just so he can keep his job. This team needs a strong willed manager to move forward at this point in time. Whether it's Setien or not, this is what is needed.

Valencia game was bad, but we did have 14 shots during the 90 mins. We've had 8 vs Granada in the 2-0 loss, who is a lot weaker than Valencia.

At Barcelona you don't have time but people have to be patient. He has the same team as Valverde - Suárez, a player who averaged 1 scoring point per game. We can't expect him to implement a winning system, fix physical shortcomings and play awesome football with an unbalanced squad.

People shouldn't forget that Bartomeu had 3 different sporting directors since he got elected in 2015. He hired Robert, who was sacked and replaced by Pep Segura, who only lasted a year. The club now have Abidal and Ramon Planes carrying out the role together. Lack of vision at its best.

Can we expect him to not play Sergi Roberto as a RCB in a 3-5-2 with de Jong, Ansu and other players out of position?

If Setien continues with his shit system like a stubborn old man he'll end up doing worse than what Valverde did this season.

Mallorca thrashed Velencia though.

Hopefully he learned a lesson from that game. Playing Bob at the back was and is a big mistake.

Board, not squad. A manager can deal with undisciplined veterans if he is backed by the board.

But very good comment. Right now, we either cut the veterans and move on, accepting a few bad seasons, or we give them the reigns and sign another puppet like Valverde who lets them do what they want.

Only fools would let 32-33 years old players decide how a team should play.

I personally would say thank you and goodbye to all of them. Sign 5-6 players who aren't superstars but are top players, bring in a top manager and rebuild this team.

can you name 5-6 top players that are available?

Was checking how much time Messi, Griezmann and Dembele have been on the field at the same.

27 minutes - Celta 09Nov19
57 minutes - Leganes 23Nov19

Total minutes; 84 minutes

Might’ve missed something but that seems about right. Messi missed few games beginning of the Season and Dembele <-> Griezmann substitution was a common feature when Dembele has been fit.

Setién has been very self-critical at the press conference after the game. No excuses.
Quique Setién: "There are some things that the players still do not interpret well or we may not explain them well. Nobody likes what we've seen today. We have a lot of things to do. Positionally there are things to correct because we have given many meaningless passes."
"The best part of the first half is that it was 0-0 at half time. We didn't do well at all. In the second half we did better, but it's not enough for us."

We would never hear this from EV. First step to correct mistakes is acknowledging them. Here's hoping. I guess there will be changes in the team. Vidal in (probably our best midfielder right now but his impact is bigger when he comes off the bench), Semedo instead of Sergi Roberto and a back 4. Maybe Busquets should play between Piqué and Umtiti when in possession. He doesn't have the legs to track back in time anyway.
