There is no fair solution for this situation. Yeah it is unfair for German/French clubs but I doubt traveling between countries is going to be considered so there is no alternative tbh

From just pure sport fairness, it's perfectly fair for CL to carry on as normal at the respective club venues for all clubs that aren't PSG or Lyon. Not being able to host or having to visit somebody's empty stadium doesn't really make it more unfair (other than more time spent on the plane/bus) as long as a club is forbidden to use their venue to pipe in fan support by putting screens next to the pitch or chiming in the noise from speakers.

Kind of depends how UEFA choose to play it. It may be that if they choose to keep it this way without having to minimise travel back and forth, they'll just allow PSG and Lyon to pipe in their own support that works to their advantage. In the end they may choose to impose authority and normalise everyone to the same rules in the same venue and have 2 week tournament with every team having their own camp somewhere in the city.

That Final 8 will probably feel like a friendly charity tournament.

No decision on that yet. Probably cuz of the Lyon case?

The quarters and semis all happening within a week will feel odd. Favors smaller teams though so good to see.

Final is at the Benfica stadium as well with Istanbul, St Petersburg, Munich and Wembley all pushed back.

It's actually a pretty exciting format.

Of course there is too much money in the CL to change the format every year, but I always liked the idea of an end of season continental championship with the league winners (or top 2's of the big leagues). Call it the League Winners Cup or something with 8/16 teams and one knockout tie.

Agreed. I think it will feel like the knockout phase of an international tournament.

if there is a penalty shootout then count on:
