Frenkie, Arthur and Sergio will get better over time and find into a smooth flow and that Will be alfaomega to make this team great this season. Griezmann, Messi and suarez/dembele/perez Will also provide fine attacking options and be good enough with the rest of our squad to have a decent shot in all 3 competitions and most likely win the leauge. We Will play like Barca and every one Will be happy.

Poor_Sunyol

In Lucho we trust!
I think we have found our midfield now and as others have said, they will get better the more matches they play. We still are lacking something going forward and when will we score from a corner kick! It's like Rijkaard all over again!

5 games this season. 2 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss. We haven't won a single away game, but even bigger than that we've looked like the absolutely worse side in every one of those games and been pretty much dominated.

It's one thing to draw to Osasuna and Dortmund, and lose to Athletic. That is straight up bad enough. But we've literally been outshot 39 to 26 in our away games. The opponent outshot us in every one of those games. Fucking Osasuna of all teams almost DOUBLED us in shots, 15-8. For fucks sake.

We actually have delusional apologists out there on twitter and r/Barca sipping their tea saying "but muh ackshually El Sadar is a very tough game and we are lucky to get points :coffee:"

FUCK.

The absolute fucking state of this club and its fanbase. The incredibly high level of pessimism in this forum is the only thing that gets anywhere NEAR to the truth, most of twitter/reddit is completely retarded in comparison. And even then you have idiots like Tackle and BBZ8800 saying "our best course of action is to just stick with Valverde anyway because it's impossible to do better and no one else could actually do any better for us". And Tackle going further and saying "support Valverde to support the club otherwise you're a fucking plastic fan who has no clue about priorities".

The start of this season is basically a picture preview of how we're going to get bent over in dominated in CL knockout away games, a perfect illustration.

Don't forget Havesaks and The Observer

Valverde is proving how baseless the saying that Barcelona manages itself is. It's actually the other way around. The higher your aspirations are, the more you need greater managers. We aim not to win the league and that's it, job done. We aim to be a top 3 team in the world and if possible to be no1. That is our objective looking at the investments in the team. Valverde would be a decent manager by most teams metrics and expectatiobs. But for Barcelona he is a terrible fit. Simply terrible.

Props to him for playing FDJ and Arthur and then subbing off Busquets.

Defense left a lot to be desired though. We are shambles back there.

+1 Actually subbing a player off based on performance.

Last season it was: sub Arthur off whatever the situation whether he was playing well, poor, we were winning, losing etc glad we're over the "Arthur can't last 90 mins" myth.

I'm not sure if he actually doesn't teach any sort of ideas on defense -> midfield -> frontline transitions (now that we have FDJ and Arthur), or if he does that but the seniors are just so damn lifeless that they don't bother implementing it.

EITHER of those options is DAMNING.

An elite coach is a requirement for CL these days.

CL winning managers in 2010s:

Mourinho
Guardiola
Di Matteo (Fluke of the century)
Don Jupp
Ancelotti
Lucho (not elite but above average and had the greatest attack in club football history)
Zidane
Zidane
Zidane
Klopp

Valverde is like a janitor compared to those names. Our only hope is a Di Matteo fluke but even he had a relatively hungry core (no CL success yet)

IT wasnt a myth tho. But I think we are all glad that Arthur now is able to figure as a starter.

Exactly we aim being a top 3 team. And constantly switching manager is not really recommended. Consistency is.
Valverde isnt mediocre at all. Im all for to try something New if valverde only wins the leauge and the same problems occur as previous seasons, go all-in for ten haag or koemann. But now he Actually has a midfield worth building on, and we have seen a lot of positive sogns regarding the midfield.

And even on the assumption that he isnt a good coach, or how one Will put it. To tarnish Valverdes legacy, contribution and general work (or for that sake Rakitic, Suarez or who Else gets thrown under the bus by immature babies in this forum) in the way it's done in this forum, is so toxic, disrespectfull and annoying to read, that I can't shake the thought that most of those fans most have some bigger pschylogical problems to deal with which are cannalised into raging out on the firstbest, easiest person, phenomen or whatever and this case players and especially valverde. And thats just first grade all over again.

Also, it's kinda ridicolous all the time to compare him to klopp and Pep who both got time and all the ressources they needed to build a team. Valverdes situation is pretty different and way more demanding.

The biggest mistake yesterday was not having Firpo on the bench and thus not having a proper replacement for Alba - thus Semedo had to swap flanks. BVB targeted Semedo over and over again, especially Sancho who's a constant threat and takes on players one and one. Every dangerous play came over our left hand side.

Griezmann doesn't belong on the wing. Admirable workrate, but having to stay wide constantly to keep width and spending half of the time backtracking is a waste of this players potential.

We should revisit the idea of Griezmann playing in midfield.

FDJ is clearly levels better as a CDM regista than he was at RCM or LCM, has way more influence on the game and the tone of our possessions from start to finish. He needs total field vision and the ability to build up a head of steam from deep positions. His best plays come when he is behind the main zones of buildup and pushing forward to support whenever/wherever he feels needed, like the guiding hand for our circulation of the ball.

Rakitic is a horrible, absentee partner at the RCM spot. Roberto is too inconsistent and a niche player that mostly performs in end to end games at home.

What people want is someone who is more offensive than FDJ and Arthur, a high level runner off the ball, creates chances, and attacks free space in the final third. Enter Griezmann, who does all of these things. He also puts in more than his fair share of defensive support. His best weapon as a player is linkup play and 1-2's, which he'll get plenty of if he's in close proximity to Messi/FDJ/Arthur.

It also allows a fluid system in which Messi can drop deep, move wide, or push up, and Griez can rotate to occupy the different empty spaces in response to Leo's movement. He'd be very complementary to Messi in that role.

Plus it seems like Suarez is definitely gonna be a starter no matter what, sadly.

Ansu-Suarez-Messi
Arthur-FDJ-Griezmann
Alba-Lenglet-Pique-Semedo

Dembele can rotate with Ansu or, if he manages to up his level and be truly productive, he can be the full time starter there this season.

This iteration of our lineup has the greatest # of high level runners off the ball and players with good defensive workrate. It also gives us a midfield where every single player is mobile and dynamic, not static like Busi/Rakitic.

I don't hate that idea. It sounds good and better than what we have now.

Watch any other team in CL and compare those teams to Barca. We look like team of grandpa's with lack of interest and movement.. Our team is in sad state.
