Messi took much more freekicks than Ronaldo if I recall correctly.
But I guess it is because the ones crossed to fellow players get counted as well.

no. ronaldo has never been a good freekick taker. i remember how manu fans always complained about that though he scored some good long range free kick. this guy doesnt have any technique to bend the ball and beat the wall. he has worst fk ratio.
messi wasnt fk specialist in his early days. he is just getting better and better every season,evrery year and now is the deadlest fk taker. thats a genius of messi,always move forward

Also Ronaldo thrived on knuckle balls. Think he has a better chance when he is more in front of goal than from an angle.

Messi is more flexible with the freekicks.

How many attempts Ronaldo had to score those 52 goals? Probably way more than Messi. Ronaldo wants to kick free kick from 40 meters if he can score. He takes every super low percentage kick he can, which I think is foolish.

Messi wasn't always as good free kick taker but today he is one of the best.

Messi free kicks are on goal ONLY when they are in shooting range, at decent angle, and more or less in the category of possible goals. Other then that, hes always opting for crosses, unlike the portuguese mufloon.

Dont you fucking dare compare messi with ronaldo in that department, its a tragedy. I can get with goalscoring, but nothing else.

Messi was, is and always would be a classs above cr150.

To piggyback off of that ... this is why Juninho IMO is better because he can hit it from any angle and further distances. Messi is probably better at close range conversion

Also those knuckle ball free kicks take less skill to take. A lot of it is how the ball behaves and deceives the keeper. Those types of free kicks would have been no good way back when the balls were heavier

ronaldo barely beat the wall with his fks. that is enough to tell how bad he is at free kick. currently it looks like he can not take fk anymore.

Take into account that, Juninho scored 40 free-kicks in Lyon. The rest were in micky-mouse leagues.
