Lionel Messi - v7

Maybe they didn't trust the board to get somebody better than Valverde, and knew full well that they would probably end up with an even worse manager which is exactly what happened. If Messi criticises the manager then no top coach worth his salt would take the job if they felt Messi is the boss. So even if he wanted to criticise Valverde it is best for everyone including himself that he keeps his mouth shut.

Obviously they did not want anyone but EV and if they think there is no one better after the Liverpool and Roma ties then they are deluded.

If they thought there was someone better they could have campaigned for them but they didnt. They liked EV and his approach and wanted him to stay.

Messi criticised Setien and said Barca not good enough to win CL.

The amigos had too much power under EV and wanted it to remain.

I think you're wrong.

Semedo upamecano alaba alba
De jong
Tiago riqui
Dembele messi fati

Yesterday was a painful example how this barca still has quality behind the line passes but pace is nowhere to be seen.
In this line up you dont build your team around ageing 33 year old but preparing for life after him and more or less easy to replace because you're looking for a striker. and still you can have quality output.

Our major concern is how to get rid of:
Pique, umtiti, rakitic, busquets, vidal, suarez, griezmann, coutinho and all other nowhere close to europe's best in their positions players, and replace them with younger core.

Dembele needs to be injury free to not be considered for transfer list.
Lenglet is a quality option.

But more then anything, we need a fucking coach. Not some small club coach, but a new entry or a already established
world class one.

Our problems dont start and doesnt end with messi.

Board with their idiotic manager appointments are the main reason why we are where we are

Need a coach who can tell Messi to fukoff with his Pet and does NOT give a fuk about seniority.

Messi is part of the problem with his blatant grooming his pet and walking defense.

No player in history has campaigned for a manager when the current one is still employed, you can't do that, it is incredibly unprofessional and would impress nobody least of all any prospective manager.

Messi supported his coach in public which is expected of him as captain, we don't know what went on behind closed doors, for all we know Messi could have been trying to get Valverde out.

We know the players have too much power, but that is not their fault, it is the boards. If any other club gave their players the power that Barca have the result would be the same.

Dont agree with that.

The Barca era will always have the names of Xavi and Iniesta mentioned with it.

Messi will be seen as best player but that midfield and other areas of team will always be taken into account.

I would like nothing more than xavi and iniesta to get the credit they deserve. Obviously no one knows the future, it's just my honest opinion.

Football fans have short memories. If people look through the history books, Messi will hold practically every Barca record. That's why I think it will remembered as his era.

They could have let the board sack EV as they would have and then campaigned for who they want.

Dont agree anyway and players with as much power as those lot do campaign and would bet they are campaigning for Xavi now.

Messi supported his coach in public as he should? Where is his support of Setien then?

Messi and amigos liked EV, wanted him to stay simple as that and board were too shit scared to go against them until Barca were heading for worst season in years.

There's a good coach, at the minute unemployed, who would cost nothing (just the pay off of Setien and his crew obvs.). We won't go for him. Why? Because he played for/managed Espanyol and said (5 years ago) that he wouldn't manage Barca.

Mauricio Pochettino.

After EV and Setian, and numerous other coaches fired time and time again across Europe. I would be careful as to labeling any coach "good" (including Xavi, Coleman...) before the winning UCL again if ever.

These issues are because of weak leadership at the top of the club, if Messi felt confident that the board knew what they were doing he could concentrate on football like he did earlier on in his career. He shouldn't need to get involved in anything else but he loves the club and feels like he needs to say something. And if Messi wants Suarez to play because he is his buddy then a strong manager would say tough shit Leo I pick the team not you, but there is no strong Manager and that is not Messi's fault.

Exactly, Messi is Barca's legend but we can't afford to have a passenger or passengers in the game again. It's irritating and makes your other colleagues seem like servants which can also affect their commitment. Little wonder why it's hard for players to replicate their clubs form in Barca since they're all made to lookout for Messi (You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain). We need to start a rebuild for the future.

Some of you has gone insane, the amount of disrespect is staggering honestly.

Some spoiled little brats throwing their farorite old toy away after using him too much. Complaining that 'They' are the club, that 'They' pay him too much.

I can understand the frustration but talking about what is Leo thinking there and now... Judging a 15 minutes break on an instant capture. Can't even take a break and drink water alone for one second. Who knows if he slapped Semedo? You would enjoy it, admit it!

It's just very arrogant to tell what Messi is thinking while you're just looking at his demeanor.
Or maybe we have mediums in the community?

I'll try : playing football was his passion. Now it's a chore. First with Argentina (I mean Sampaoli, come on!), now it's Bar?a. 16 years in pro. So how not a drudgery?

He loves his family, maybe the kids wants to see more of him? Maybe his father Don Jorge wants more cash... Who knows?

Anyway, someone has to chop off Bartomeu's head.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain.

His mistake was lingering on and on when he?s clearly declining while not having the ruthlessness to surround himself with a team that can compensate for his growing weaknesses.

All time great, one of the best ever based off his peak and the length of that peak but he showed us who he is.

He can?t win without other greats, just like other greats can?t win by themselves.

Stop this GOAT carrying Barca myth. Now.

CR7 and him are beneficiaries of all time great teammates. No wonder they?ve been ass at the international level

Fred Hermel is a Real Madrid fan who hates Messi.

Anyone that's followed a tiny bit of French TV/Radio knows that. He has no clue about anything to do with Messi or Barca.

It is amazing to see the disrespect to Messi. Something which fans here ascribed to Argentina fans. The fact is football is a team game. Always has been and always will. Messi cannot perform miracles no one can whatever their talent level. If the players are not up to scratch then any system will fail. And if the coach cannot see that then he is the problem.

Messi was hampered with Argentina by poor coaches aside from Sabella until Scaloni who has realized he needs to play close to the attacking third and have talented but hard working and running players around him. The opposite is now true for Barcelona. He is still the best player in the world. He has been as the statistics show even without Xavi or Iniesta. And it is amazing how some describe Ronaldo being the role model the competitor when he ran off to Juventus thinking that might grant him a CL. Messi has done the loyal thing in staying. It might be better for him to disappear to that club in Manchester if he wants some more titles. Beating the chest as a player or coach does not win matches. Careful preparation, analysis and having the right players in the right system does. Messi's personality has never been like that. He lets his football do the talking. He has always certainly in recent seasons conserved his energy and described as lazy but he is remarkably efficient.

One of the greatest players of all time if not the greatest being pilloried for mistakes which are not his own. If I were him seeing the state of midfield and defence opening up like the Red Sea then I too would have given up. When he does retire there will be perhaps the rightful thanks and praise he deserves. Football fans are so fickle. One game a hero the next the devil personified.
