There is no other option simply because he can create magic that can lead to a goal, or score himself, out of nowhere. This is too valuable for any team to have. I mean really the only way to decrease his influence is to not play him. Even then, how confident are you that Fati, Cou, and Griez will score every game? Who's going to feed them the ball? Messi's passes have led to goals in all of these three matches to start la liga.

He used to. He's not creating much and being dispossessed left and right. Running the play through this washed up Messi doesn't work anymore. He's not getting younger, and he looks more sluggish and slow as ever. Game is flying past him more and more.

People have been criticizing him for not being communicative on the field, turns out this was better for the team because when does communicate with his team mates he usually isn't saying anything positive.
Even worse, he doesn't seem to do it with the older players but only with the youngsters and especially Fati, exactly the players he should be supporting as a captain of the team. What a mentor and what a captain!

Even Messi at that age was yelled by his team mates
I did not know that Koeman has forbidden to have 20 thourgh balls/dribbels/shooting attemps to all the player (except Messi).

Yea, that bit was unbelievable. Shouting at a 17 year old kid who takes a shot from a great position after he scored 3 goals in the first 2 games. :facepalm:. Must've done wonders for Fati's confidence.

i don't get this bullshit. younger players have to be pampered or something?! i guess the ones writing that shit didn't play team sports even at amateur level.

of course you get a reality check if you try and shoot from all positions

You?re not understanding he?s a victim of his own success. If the score ends 1-1 but Fati/Griezmann/Coutinho does the pass Messi does there?d be a few pages about how it?s great to see them doing dangerous through balls. Messi does it and he?s dogshit. The lack of nuance in opinions on here is breathtaking

Messi had the likes of Ronaldinho, Edmilson, and Sylvinho being like older brothers to him and supporting him. Who exactly has Messi been that way to in this team?

That's not the point. The point is the team's captain shouldn't bully his teammates, especially his much younger teammates.

fati believed his own hype for a bit or maybe that's what he does - first time shots. clearly in that attacking phase he should have passed as he can't hit the jackpot every time he shoots.
