Makes sense to strait swap for a lesser and older goalkeeper, offer him more wages and, as cherry on top, promise him to let him go (for a discount price I bet) next season.

Well done club. Proud of you

Neto is actually a few months younger than JC. ;)

My bad. Thought Jasper was 27 or something. It's his boyish looks. No homo.

He's been rotting on your bench so long you lose track of time :p

So what's the point of announcing fees if it's a straight swap? Who are Barca trying to fool?

Idiotic deal.

MD says we might play him in some league games next season. He will cost us some goals and defeats for sure, but who cares as long as Valverde is still here. Makes no difference.

WTF is this??? We basically made a swap for a worse GK?!?!? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? HORRIBLE DEAL!!!!!! This club is becoming a joke! We really need to survive next two seasons because nothing good will happen in that time as long as Barto is in charge for the club.

It's even worse when you realize "Cillesen - Neto" deal was only about balancing the books. :puke:

I agree, it's not the best of deals. But considering Cillessen 100% was going to leave, take into consideration:

1. No matter what we did, we were always going to get a downgrade from Cillessen.
2. No club wanted to pay more than around 15M. So we wouldn't make a huge profit.
3. It was an opportunity to cook the books. #GOATmeu
4. We improved our relations with Valencia.

This is creative accounting for both clubs to satisfy FFP, players used as financial pawns with zero regards to sporting matters

Can't expect too much. If anything, you got 10M from them while swapping for a decent reserve GK depending on how easily the bonuses can be achieved.

It's not too bad. Just a bit odd.

Valencia needed 35mil before 1st of July. we needed a good backup GK in order to replace Cilessen. good deal for both parties.

we would have never sold Cillesen for 35mil, to any club. we could have sold him for something like 20 or under, but then we would still have to get a good backup. or we could have kept de 15-20 mil for Cilessen and put Pena in goal, but that would have been a risky move.

so yeah, sporting matters were taken into account. we got an equal level replacement to Cillesen while also getting 35 mil on the books for next season. this might come in handy once we transfer griezman or neymar
